Tomorrow is retreat for mites.

It appears my welsummer is having a crop issue. She is eating but not much and the crop at night is about golf ball size and hard. In the morning it is not fully empty but about half a golf ball in size. Breaking out the coconut oil this morning. That should be fun.

I have kept her crated this week so I can monitor her intake and out go. She does get up and move around well.
Is it possible that you're feeling in the morning is Grit? Maybe try giving her Mash to see if she'll eat more.

I got nuthin yesterday. 2 the day before. Doesn't matter i am feeding them back to them right now.
That reminds me I'm giving my chickens corid right now. The vet said not to consume the eggs but is it safe to feed the eggs back to the chickens? Feels like such a waste just to throw them away but I don't want to be giving them the corid back through the eggs. And what about the shells? Are those ok to refeed during a withdrawal period?

All coffee.

:caf
I'm going to call bulltaters on this b/c my gma drank coffee every single day of her adult life and she lived to 86.. Granted, she did have cancer, but it was lung cancer, but testing confirmed that she was genetically predisposed to have it, and it wasn't caused by something she did or ingested.

Me??

No. It is hard enough to cook an old gal to where the family will eat it.
Soooooooo sensitive about eating a "pet".
Seriously the plan all along had been to cook em up eventually.
My kids are the same way.. I suggested getting some cornish crosses this year so they could have the chick experience but then we'd process them.. they said no b/c they knew they'd get attached. I gave Steve away 6 months ago and I'm STILL hearing about how they miss him... he's literally living the rooster life w/ his own harem of ladies to fertilize. He isn't missing my kids.

no feeding withdraw period eggs or shells to chickens or you... feed it to the dog

He's doing fine, less clingy today. I think we are getting over whatever stomach bug we had. Thankfully, it effects the lower gut, not the stomach directly.

Oh, funny story. For a baby gift, someone bought us a noise machine (plays music, sounds, white noise) that has a projector with a spinning, changeable disk on it. I brought it out for the first time yesterday because MD was being crabby and I needed to work. It worked very well at keeping him occupied for a while, dancing to the lullabies. Overnight, I had it on "rain" noise, which was really nice. I turned it off this morning. A little while later, it turned itself back on. I thought MD had done it but it hadn't moved and was on the same settings it was when I had turned it off. It did it several more times over the course of the morning. I looked at everything and couldn't figure out why it was turning on. The last time it turned on, I looked and MD was 6ft away from it so it wasn't possible that he had been playing with it. So, thinking I had a possessed machine, I decided to read the manual that came with it. Apparently, there is a voice activated setting that turns the machine back on if it detects a certain volume of noise to help a kid get back to sleep. Needless to say, I turned that setting off.
That's super creepy, but it'd be funny to turn it on and scare everyone else with it.

Soooo i have 2 pairs of glasses ordered. Hubby paid $70 for his 2 pairs and mine are over $200! Seriously, for bits of plastic and metal? Progressive bifocals really bust a budget!
My 1 pair of glasses cost $300. My lenses are $100 each b/c I'm blind so I get the thin lenses & since I work on the computer all day long I got the anti glare coating. It's insane. BUT it does help that the lenses are insured so if they get scratched I can get a replacement, no questions asked, as many times as needed.

I do give wet mash every morning. I would agree its grit except the crop is hard even in the morning. It has been an ongoing issue for a couple weeks. She has been less active which I attributed to the mites.
I figure that the coconut oil cannot hurt.
I don't think impacted crop but slow crop is likely.

Some folks are funny about eating the old hens. My guys are on that list I guess.

I got a big ole pot of green chili started too. Anyone not wanting a chimmie can have meaty green chili instead.

Really? The vet said to wait 7 days after the last dose. But she also said to check the packaging to see if it might be longer. I might just feed them to the chickens for the next several days anyway just so they can get an extra protein to help them recover some from of the cold weather we've had.

Phew not Annabelle ;)glad all are on the mend :yesss:

I had a similar machine almost 12 years ago and I think it played for 10 minutes (I cannot remember). Ds would always touch the button while rolling over, then he got to where he would press the button and watch the motion on the ceiling until he fell back asleep. It was fabulous!
