My one boy who I thought was in charge started to be sneaky with me. Tried flogging and would jump at me. Only in the coop--very leery of me touching the girls.
So I started standing up to him. When possible (not freezing out) I shoo him out the door and make him stay there.
He's not head rooster anymore. My other boy took over for sure. No real knock down drag out fights. There might have been one during the take over. But Trouble (now in charge) chases Captain from the girls, stops him from crowing, and generally runs the place. Captain has thought about going after me since but for the most part he's weary of starting a fight with anyone.

I’ve never stopped my boys from crowing I want them to be in charge but know who is boss. The big Ameraucana knows but still watches over the girls. Hopefully Hannibal understands now or I will flog him again even harder.

Wth momma is broody again she has only been off eggs for a month. She must be a super mom. Silkie cross she waited just long enough for her chick to get her size and boom sitting again

I have read this after all and it’s pretty much what I did. I didn’t use a stick I used the bottom of my shoe. I went back a few times after and went straight at him and he wanted none of it. I’ll remind him again tomorrow. Don’t get me wrong he is a good protector and good with his two girls and the chicks. He stands in front of the girls when cats come around. He doesn’t crow when I’m in the run he just pecks at the ground until i turn. I’ll see tomorrow scrappy little guy is one of my favorites but he needs to learn.
