Official Squatch Watchers

This is on the edge of being hogwash.
It is not a good document to go buy because not all states report their changes to that site.
That’s where the NPIP site sent me. I would hope they would report to NPIP. But what do I know? Last I knew my state sends someone out, they look around, and say “ok. Looks fine.”

Being a member of the NPIP is not an across the board/states thing.
Each state is regulated within the state.
The NPIP site is just a "general information" site...I can't stress enough that each state has it's own rules.

I know. It’s best to look per state.

This page here ^
Shows that 28 states do NOT require being NPIP.
Instead one can get a certificate of health from a vet instead of using the VS form 93 that being a member of NPIP gives you access to.
And in almost all of the states I have contacted the use of this VS form is electronic.

Meaning say I want to ship you chicks from Texas.
I would contact my state vet and request this form. He is the only person in this state that can sign that form.
I would fill it in (electronically) and he would then transfer it to your state vet.

It's so dumb.
The whole process and what being NPIP means to most people, imo.

I have never ordered from a hatchery, do they send a health certificate as in link above?
"8 All poultry, eggs(hatching), chicks, and poults must originate from a U.S. Avian Influenza Clean flock (chickens) or a U.S. H5/H7 Avian Influenza Clean flock (turkeys) and be accompanied by a health certificate."

Where is our NPIP person?!?!?! You need NPIP certification to sell fertilized eggs or just live chickens?!?!

As usual, Kiki is right on... There are fed rules and state rules and in some cases county and city rules. A number of groups have been working fairly successfully to get states to pass laws prohibiting municipalities from making up their own rules. Thankfully mine is one and they are getting more progressive on the food freedom front.

No. They just include a statement on the label with their NPIP info.

All hatcheries (especially large ones) (not backyard "hatcheries") should be PT and AI clean and that "proof" is usually sent to you on your packing slip/receipt with the chicks.

Kiki LOVES to be right!
WOOT!

All kidding aside...it's not about me being right.
I would love to be able to inform all the people that don't really know the facts about NPIP of the facts and be able to tell them exacts per state.
It is a mission of mine.
