Chicken math says that the chicks do not hatch until the pullets start laying eggs. The Cockerels don't count because you usually eat them or sell them.Good afternoon everyone!
I just got done sending three of my Cochin/Dominique cross boys (about 6 months old) on their way to freezer camp. Too bad @TexasSam isn't around. He wants to hear how these boys slaughtered. I guess I'll PM him to make sure he doesn't miss it.
They have WAY more breast meat than your average DP bird. They were also nice and heavy. I need to get the cleaned weights from them. The one REALLY annoying thing, was plucking the feet. One of them had quite a few ingrown foot feathers that were hard to get out. But I got it done. I've made a note that is something I need to check for when I'm picking breeders. I don't want a bird with ingrown feathers on their feet.
I am now down to 96 birds again. I have 3 eggs due to move to lock down tomorrow so I won't be breaking 100 until at least week after next!
Love chicken Math!
