Official Squatch Watchers

It has already gone down a good deal. We had a 100 year flood two years ago and that paddock only got a little covered.

It does wound like a good place though.

Around here there is talk of the 100 year flood. We are fine for that but now we are hearing about a 500 year flood!

I ignore that though

What a full weekend you had!

It is very scary about the car. I grew up in a Family of mechanics so I am quite familiar with the odd ways you can be hurt by machinery. Any time I go under a car I make doubly or triply sure it is safe to go under. Even then I am very worried about it.

I would think complacency is the answer with your aunt being in front of the car. She had seen the car go up a thousand times with no problem...And then Bam!

I hope she makes a full recovery
Thanks, and you're probably right. It's easy to think 'we do this all the time'. Once my brother was loading his race car on to an open trailer and they forgot to put the pins in the ramps. 1/2 on the trailer, 1/2 on the ramps the ramps fell down and left the car teetering. There was a lot of screaming as they worked to get the car off. That was scary enough.. couldn't imagine having to deal with someone being UNDER the car too. Hopefully it's something they all remember so it doesn't happen again.

What are 100 year/500 year floods?

The term "100-year flood" is used in an attempt to simplify the definition of a flood that statistically has a 1-percent chance of occurring in any given year. Likewise, the term "100-year storm" is used to define a rainfall event that statistically has this same 1-percent chance of occurring.

“For a 500-year flood, there is a 0.2 percent chance of having a flood of that magnitude occurring” in any given year, according to the National Weather Service.

Maps are drawn up based on this probability. 500 is very unlikely.

Our place was in a 110 year flood plain on an old map. A new map removed us along with the requirement for flood insurance.

Wow, good thing you got checked! Hopefully that's the last you have to deal w/ that nasty C-word.

This was both the longest and shortest weekend ever. My giant human had competition about an hour away on Saturday and we wanted to get there around 1 to watch her team's big group act (she's the only one not in it), but the night before my mom told me that Jasmine hadn't been eating. I called the vet and they said they could get her in at 11:50. I get there at about noon b/c EVERYONE was out for leisurely Saturday car ride.. they tell me the appt was at 11:40, but they'll get me in. (I swear she said 11:50... but whatever). Anyway, she peed a lot of blood that morning. They want to do blood tests & I say ok, but I don't have the 1/2 hr to wait to for the results so they give her an antibiotic shot and hydrate her. I leave to the tune of $215 w/ my sickly cat and they call me to say she has a major infection and her kidneys don't look good and to call Monday and let them know how she's doing. I called several hours ago, the vet was in surgery... at this point I'm not sure if they'll give her a stronger med, or if they'll recommend to have her put down. She was fine until a few days ago so hopefully they'll be able to give her the meds.

The meanies in the coop won't leave Olive's tail alone so she's in the little cage now. We've confirmed that the Olive lays the lighter green egg. Karissa is deliriously happy about that. Olive is livid about having to live in the crate, esp on Friday and Saturday when it was beautiful out, but now it's winter here again so she doesn't seem to mind as much. It only took a week before the zombie chicken grew in enough feathers so they'd leave her alone so I'm hoping that's how long it takes Olive to grow her butt feathers back in. I did get some of the calf mana and now my coop smells like black licorice. They seem to be eating it though.

And an unusual aside... My uncle drag races. Saturday morning they were loading up one of his race cars into the trailer and something happen and his car jumped forward. For some reason his wife was standing in FRONT of the car. She ended pinned under the car, against an engine stand/ cherry picker/ something... I live in town and we see an ambulance go by along w/ rescue vehicles. Then driving down the road a fire truck passes us. Then I see them all stopped at my uncle's house. My mom called my cousin's friend to see what happened. My aunt was lifeflighted to a different hospital. She was put into a medically induced coma, her clavicle and pelvis were broken. She has surgery to fix all that. She's still in the hospital. My uncle hit his mouth on the steering wheel and had to go to the er for that, then they took him up to her. IDK why on earth my aunt was in front of the car. They've been doing this for decades. She knew better.. you never get in front of or behind a car that's being pulled up a ramp. We haven't heard anything about her condition since Saturday night.
Gosh i hope she will survive the ordeal!

How long has he been on the CBD @Smuvers Farm? Ideally you could take him off rx drugs and keep the CBD going.

The long weekend (weekend before last), when he started having seizures on Thursday that lasted through Sunday, we tried CBD Oil to stop the seizures since double and even triple dosing his regular med wasn't working.

Although the oil worked EXTREMELY well in calming him, it didn't *help* his seizures, as he continued to seize... and even got worse..... as the weekend progressed. We're keeping him on 15 drops (.5ml) once, sometimes twice, per day as it keeps him from getting aggressive... and it helps him sleep at night.

I've also started taking a 2ml dose at night, as I'm having issues with sleep myself.

I truly hope everything is OK with your aunt. That is a terrible accident.

Hey Cappy, do ants coming out of my bathroom electric socket count as excitement?! Cause I have them in spades. I've had to duct tape the outlet until I can figure out WTH to do.

This is our 3rd summer in this home, and this is the 3rd summer some sort of bug related weird taters has happened. Summer 1? Dead crickets in our garage. Summer 2? Wasps.... a plethora of wasps. Now, it's friggen ants.

I’m glad it’s working for both of you. The longer it’s used the better it works.
