Yes. That’s why 3 more now doesn’t seem like a big deal to me.

I really wanted to tell you NO - Don't do it! Just to be different, and it sounds like you want someone to say don't do it. But for some reason, my fingers are enabling instead. :P

Looking for honest opinions. Someone not to far from me has chickens that need rehomed. 3 cuckoo Marans not in with their current flock. Not yet laying. Hoping I could do a short dog crate quarantine instead of longer...
I’m super tempted. You all know I’m trying to move. I keep telling myself 3 more chickens won’t make a difference. With the 2 boys I have I could use a few more girls. I figured I get them, just a little later...
:barnieChicken Math!
The urge to get more is irresistible. Just do it. I set chicken eggs of 2 breeds and am going to go get quail eggs and a male lionhead tomorrow!

:gig :love did she fall in and couldn't get back out, or was she hiding? :D

I found a board just less than the width of the handles and laid over top of one of those types.
She jumped in to eat. The first time I saw her do it I thought she was stuck, but she has no problem getting out. I thought about putting something over it, but a couple of the bigger birds like to eat from the top when it's full. Jaiden used to do it all the time. There's a step so she can get to the edge, she just wants to get to the 'good' stuff (it's all the same).

IMO it sounds like you really want them. Have you gone to see them yet? Maybe go take a look and if you still want them, get them. What's moving 3 more as long as you have the space now to accommodate them until you move.

So a bit of an update:
Dad talked to the DEC yesterday. Because the coop is attached to our house, it counts as the bear attacking our house. the dude at the DEC didn't offer to come and get the bear, but he gave us permission to use a firearm to take it out next time it comes around.

Good... cause it WILL come back!!

To me it’s 3 more birds. Not 12! I need more... free... partial quarantine... helping someone else out....

I need more girls for the 2 boys I have. These aren’t laying yet but will be soon. 3 more girls makes the ratio better and I feel like I’m helping someone else out.

For all the reasons, go get the birds. You're first and foremost helping those birds and your boy birds... that's the most that matters... and it's *only* 3 more.. :D

Making a food *area* for the duckies cause STDH is having a conniption fit about the ducks brooder being wet... he's being SUCH a worry mama duck wart.. my mantra since we've gotten them has been *THEY'RE DUCKS*........they're wet!!!... THEY'RE DUCKS........ the water is all muddy.... *CAUSE THEY'RE DUCKS*........ the bedding is damp.... *THEY'RE DUCKS !!!* I've had to have said it 30 times in the last 2 day! :gig

Found THIS to help keep their brooder dry. I guess this keeps their splashed around water contained. I'll take pics once I get it done and we redo the brooder with dry hay or pine shavings or whatever.

This is what i am working on today. The garden badly needs clean up. 20180423_142205.jpg
So far i raked all around the perimeter to remove leaves from where they hit the hot wire. Picked up the sticks in that area and put them in the fire area. Pulled weeds from the walk ways until i needed a break. Plus it is sprinkling harder. Worked on adjusting the hot wire up a bit higher. Got about 1/3 of that done.
Oh, and i started spreading straw in the walkways to hold down weed growth.

I just want to say I’ve missed you guys but I’m having trouble bouncing back. I can’t tell you how much I am grieving over the loss of my kitty.
I forced myself to celebrate Jonah’s 11 th birthday on the 19th as I always have complete with party hat and a present and some homemade “dog icecream”.
Cooper was invited (of course) and actually didn’t mind wearing a party hat for about two minutes.
