I don’t have parents anymore, so I’ve been through this already.

I’ve been occupied the past few days working on a list for DH so that when he goes to visit his elderly dad in another state next month he can use the time there constructively.
His dad has ADVANCED Parkinson’s, and is quickly losing cognitive skills. There are questions to be asked and conversations to be had.
They are a family of procrastinators!:barnie

I am encouraging him to get together with his two siblings (same state) AND dad - so he can be a participant, to make a record of all their father’s end of life decisions before the time hits and the whole family is up in arms with grief (and ugly sibling squabbling and selfishness - omg #HISSISTER! ) and don’t know where to begin.

*all suggestions welcome in case there’s something I haven’t thought of.

You guys are the best
CHICKEN CHUMS ever.
:hugs
Do you have a list of what you planned for discussion already? Then we could make suggestions.

Hi kids. Sorry I've been MIA, I've just been truly inner focused and didn't feel like typing for a bit. So this will be a pretty long post to catch everyone up on Smuvy's Life!

I'm down 10 pounds. Might not seem like much but, to me, it's everything. I would lose about 5 pounds and get stuck..... and then get super frustrated and put on a pound... and then go right back up to what has been my *stable* weight.... stable weight being the weight I've been pretty much at for the last 5 years.

I've absolutely been trying to lose weight since the PIC was born however, no matter what I did, I steadily climbed... I can easily lose 75 pounds... but more like 100 would be better... and 125 would still make me overweight. Being almost 50 years old, I am NOT trying to get down to a sexy weight... just basically attempting to get healthy.

My health SUCKS... and I mean bad. I get winded walking to the toilet!! :lau I had been doing modified AIP/Keto/Paleo for many MANY years, and I have still gained weight... SO, taking a TINY page from my friend PBM (who is an ovo-vegetarian I believe), I decided to go lacto-ovo-pescatarian. That's pretty much a fancy way of saying I am cutting meat from my diet. I am pretty much lacto (dairy) free as well, as the only dairy I WAS eating was yogurt, and I've started eating coconut yogurt instead. I still use ghee, but it's free of milk solids so, technically, not lactose based. Cheese free :hitanyway as there's proteins in it that cause me issues.

Going *meat free* has really stepped up our fish eating game though. Wow.... I think we have more seafood in our home right now, than we've even eaten as a family in the last 5 years! I've stocked up on salmon and cod, and tuna packets... whatever I've seen on sale. I've spent waaaaay too much time online looking for and at recipes.

PIC started summer camp this week! He is thrilled! He is back in the same group as his girl friend, M, and has made 2 new friends, C and L. C and L are already best friends, but have included the PIC whenever they wrestle and horse around.

PICs 9th birthday is coming up on the 25th! We're so happy. Taking him and the neighbor boy to KY Down Under Zoo (google it!) the weekend before hand. Hopefully, we'll be able to send cupcakes in for his group on his birthday too.

The ducks are doing well. They've started quacking. It hilarious to listen to them. One of our 2 mallard/rouens we believe is a drake as he is much smaller than the other one. Our Golden 300s are gorgeous, and lemon drop has pretty much lost the lemon and is a dewy white.

We still haven't taken out any of the roosters. Definitely one going to Crockpot Camp this weekend though. There are just too too many for the girls to physically handle and escape.

If anyone feels up to it, could you give me a condensed version of whatever has been going on here? Thank you!

Love y'all!

Welcome back!

I am horrible with condensed versions. I always miss important things.

Good job on the weight loss! It is not easy to do.

Condensed from here......

I lost my 16 year old cat in the night. He looked to have gone quietly. Poor dude.

I did a member interview. Nothing in there you all don't know already.

I been working on gigantic tomato cages. I got tired of 8' tall plants falling over.

Fun colors should look great filled with big plants.

We are glad to see you back on.

Congrats on the weight loss. It seems no matter what i give up food wise, i don't lose weight. And i am so tired most of the time. Maybe if i get the blubber carved off that would work!
Missed you so much, Smuv. Glad you are ok.
I have just about everything in the incubator. Turkey eggs, pheasant eggs, guinea eggs, quail eggs, chicken eggs, and mountain quail eggs. 5 bators going.
Building stuff as fast as possible, almost done another bunny cage. And i need to build another hoop coop for my 10 turkey poults.
Ditto on campus comments ( except for all her homestead productivity!)
I’ve missed you.

:barnieBlast you autocorrect!
Not campus,
CAPPY!

Sorry about your cat Henny. I hope my Toddie gets to chase him over TRB! :hugs

And I've missed you all as well stacey! Just life, yanno? I am finding my mom to be slowly morphing into my grandmother, which is frightening. Not only has she moved into my Gmas home, but she has started eating more red meat (which my mom hates) and has started wearing my Gmas clothes!!! I feel a wellness check might be in order, but her faculties seem to be there so...

And the pigeon might be an OEGB Bantam......

Well, I have 7 of my 8 Delawares pending pickup sometime this weekend. The guy doesn't want 2 roosters and that is understandable. Now if I can only sell my buffs. I've had more interest in them, but no solid bites yet.

Beautiful birds, I am shocked the snatching hasn't been more swift.

planning on your part is awesome! I'm more of a procrastinator, but they will thank you, if they take your advice and get him to answer some of those questions.
