The plant looks like chokecherry to me. Also noticed my legs look huge! All muscle folks...I swear.:caf
From the pics I found on google it doesn't match. All the ones I saw had serrated leaves or pointy leaves.

I have a box fan in the barn and one in the chicken coop. No power out to the turkey coop or guinea hoop coop. I rolled up the side so air blows in.
I have a fan in my coop, blowing in. It really helps b/c the wind comes from the wrong direction so there's no cross breeze.

Soooo how did it turn out?:lau
Early is still among the living. He still can't behave worth a doo but he's spending his day in the run and still being treated very well until I can find someone who will eat him or just wants to constantly fight a randy chicken.
Welcome to my world. Early is your Odin. Best of luck to you. I have Odin in a 4x8 pen all on his own. I feel bad for not letting him out, but the last time I did he was acting like a turdface still.

As you all know DH has been out of town visiting his father this week.
His dad is cold all the time and the compromise they reached was that DH would dress his dad in flannel pajamas and close the AC vent in his bedroom PLUS lay a folded bath towel over it.
His dad said he could turn the AC on AT NIGHT if he set it on 80. (But not at all in the daytime).
Yes.
EIGHT-EE HOT DEGREES.

DH has been sleeping on a couch, sweating all week.

He’s coming home today. Flight gets in at 2.
Last night he called me from the rental car - he wasn’t going anywhere. He’d already put his dad to bed. He said he just came out to the parking lot to cool off a little and was sitting there with the car AC blowing full tilt.
He said “Dig out your sweaters because when I get home I’m CRANKING our AC until my teeth chatter.”

Sooooooo......

When I got up this morning the AC had died overnight.

Put a call in to my AC guy.
I can’t believe he actually returned my call on a Sunday!

He said he’d “swing by and take a look after church”.

Can we all just take a minute?

Let us pray...
My gma was always cold too. Do you think he'd use a Snuggie? It's nicer than a blanket b/c you can still use your arms.

I have the exact same plant on my property. I’ve been told it’s one of those 2 plants. I don’t think mine looks like either of those either but close.
Must be an Ohio thing. I tried looking at Ohio plants, but it didn't come up w/ anything that I could find.

Poke berry doesn't have a woody stem. And elderberry flowers in clusters like queen anne's lace and the berries form on those clusters.
None of the trees I've seen it on had them in big clusters like I'm seeing in the photos online.

So I was thinking about the age old problem of hatching roosters no one wants. I know there are lots of old wives tales about which eggs contain a female but I was wondering if anyone ever studied the ratio of male to female a hen produced.
I know hatcheries have no idea what hen layed what egg but a much smaller operation could monitor that.
My thinking is that in humans there seem to be men who generally produce more of one sex offspring. (My BIL is 4/4 on girls) With the hen being the one who determines chick sex are there hens that have a tendency to produce more females?
Interesting. It'd be nice to get rid of the unwanted rooster problem, but if it was easy I'm sure mass production places would have found it by now.

So I *like* my job. I work for a library system, we have several buildings. I went to one yesterday and there was a note left by one of the staff computers. It looked like it had been an email, but someone printed it out really tiny and taped it to the counter. It started off normal enough, basically a reminder of when adding a new patron to the computer system to make sure they get at least this contact info filled out if they don't have time to enter everything right then.. Then at the bottom there was a rude bit about ME, personally. It said "These instructions come from April. She becomes very upset when a hold is placed and there is no way to contact the patron. And then I get nasty emails and phone calls from her." Um.. What? I took a pic of it. So at first I was like LOL. Whatever. and it didn't bother me b/c of the stuff they claimed came from me, only 1 thing was something I'd actually said and it was at the direction of my director, years ago. Side note: I was there last week and I didn't remember seeing the note, but assumed it was old b/c I hadn't had much, if any contact w/ the person who left the note recently, and their manager quit in May so it didn't make sense that it was new. Then I was talking to a couple ladies in the building where I work and they were just as surprised. Seriously, I'm a freakin' delight & everyone loves me. So I know a few people in library land and send it to this one lady I know who's a director of another library and she's tells me I need to report it. I didn't really want to make it a thing, but then I read it again and realized the one part that actually is something I told them they need to do had a date on it, 6/30/18 This was new...and from June. Where was I in June? Living in the hospital b/c my kid almost died. I counted. I was a work exactly 9 days last month. So then I'm getting annoyed b/c I didn't say anything to anyone in June. I check all my emails to this person and not a single one was about 'Do stuff this way'. And the ones I send to everyone are generic 'this person needs notified about their hold', which is more b/c the email notice bounced & you need to call them, but those we've been doing forever so it's nothing that would prompt this kind of note. So I send it to my HR person w/ an explanation just in case something comes of it. First of all, my office is directly across from HR. We can hear EVERYTHING the other says in a normal speaking voice. So when I'm on the phone she can hear it & if I was being 'nasty' to someone she'd say something to me. And as for emails, I delete nothing.. I have none that are 'nasty'. I'm always nice to people even if I don't like them b/c I have to work with them. I might rant about them at my desk, but I would never call them up and yell at them or send an email telling them they're morons. So hr is going to talk to their interim mgr and they're going to deal w/ it. The sad part is that I like(d) this person and I like(d) that building. It was my favorite building and now I wonder if all the people in the buildings are like that. So in addition to be a socially awkward person in general I get to enjoy the anxiety of wondering if my coworkers actually like me & if they talk tater about me behind my back. PLUS, 2nd guessing every single email I send someone forever now b/c do they think I'm being 'nasty'. Being an adult is fun! I'm going to start a count down clock for when I get to retire. Only ~ 18-20 more years.

:hugs That's tough. I wonder if they sent the email around and someone else printed it out so you could see it.

I would contact the person directly and ask them about the email. Unless they get nasty, I don't see the need to bring it to a higher-up's attention. I would keep a copy of the printed note for evidence though.

As for chicken related stuff. I'm up to 4 mice & 1 rat in the rodent department. I think the rain set off my traps the last 2 nights, unfortunately the place where they need to be is not covered.
My babies are HUGE! They're dusting now like the big girls. I've decided that it's time to get rid of the suspected boys so I'm going to get photos of them and get this listed this weekend. I don't want to wait too long and they start to turn on me. I want to rehome them while they're cute and note aggressive. They're gorgeous so I'm hoping someone will want them for breeding.

Love the dust bath pile!

I had that happen when I was off taking care of my mom... just what you need when your stressed out:smack
Hate to tell you it gets worse when you retire... I hear I am getting blamed for things after 6 yrs retired... The bosses tell the new people that it was something I started, did or didn't do... the workers that were there when I was, tell the newbies the truth.. most of the time it is something the boss tatered up and needs someone to blame.

@apryl29, Early is about in the same amount of space and I feel HORRIBLE about keeping him by himself like an abusive mom. I can't even put my hand close though without him latching on and trying to make hand babies so I know he can't mingle. His brother is still just chill acting like a nice respectful dude, running from hens feeding babies clover...wtf man? Stinks rotten that Early is my Odin he's sooo flippin soft and pretty.:hit
