Y’all, I have a tater of a drake.

I went outside earlier, always count my ducks when they are out and about. Everyone was there. Then I was in the chicken coops and a couple roosters alerted. They do this sometimes when the ducks do their flight exercises across the yard. So I go running out checking if that’s all it was. One of my duck hens was across the yard, and came waddling quickly back to the others. I count, and am missing one. Frantically figure out which one it is, my pastel drake Bonkers. He has been known to fly over the fence and can’t figure out how to come back. The girls were calling to him, still he didn’t come.

So I head out looking where he normally ends up. Not there. The south side of my yard is fenced, and the back, but the front and north side of the house are not fenced. So I go around, and he is way out beyond the house, out in the front yard by my flag pole. You Taterhead! I clapped my hands at him and called his name. He finally spotted me and came waddling toward me. Finally got him back thru the gate to his quacking girls. Taterhead.
Thank God. I was reading with dread that it wasn’t going to end well.

We thought our dryer was over the hill , it took hours to dry anything, and replaced it. When the guys came to bring the new one, he showed me how the lint had clogged the dryer vent so badly only about 1 pinky finger width of opening remained for air flow. Of course I realized how very dangerous that was. But duh, :smack
That happened to us in a house we’d just moved to. Gas dryer in the basement. Long way from where it was to where the dryer vent tube exited the building.

The repair man was over the top mean about it. Yelling things that had words in it like “killing your babies” and “your own fault”.

In the end, he filled two leaf size trash bags with lint and rubber bits.
Turned out the lady we bought the house from was OCD about washing throw rugs which were everywhere in the house and her white bathroom rug which was spotless on top but literally had no backing left.
Raise your hand if you remember that bathroom carpet you could take home and cut to fit like it was wall to wall.

Good morning everyone let's blast this day into space:celebrate

You shouldn't wash a rug with rubber backing once the backing gets even a little loose. It's really bad for the washing machine. The little bits get through the holes and then clog up the pump. So soon the washer won't drain properly.

Not good for the dryer either but most people don't think about how bad it is for the washer. I sure didn't.
