So I’m skipping 19 posts to say hi and check in.
Started my rounds at 4:40 am and made friends with all the receiving guys at my local big box stores then headed back out of town to “my” TSC.
STARTED A CLUB, a few hours later when my new buddies Steve and Ted showed up! And we watched the sunrise together.
We named us the “pine shavings gang”, as they liked my idea of “pulling up a bale.
By the time the store opened we had sixteen members and I was president and spokesperson, and also secretary and added a new name to the list as each new member pulled up their own bale.
Didn’t get a generator, but had a nice morning of new found friendship.
The truck carrying the generators was still 689 miles away so at 11am the manager agreed to call everyone in the list when the truck got to Newbern (2 hrs away). Everyone agreed with handshakes.

Off I went to go home, pick up gas cans and get in line at a gas station and followed a tractor trailer down I-40.

When he got off my exit and turned into homedepot I just HAD to follow him.

I lurked as he stopped to talk to the receiving guy I’d chatted with earlier.
I yelled out my window and he gave me the thumbs up so I parked and ran in.

I got a generator and as soon as I paid I called the tractor store and told them they could take my name off the list and free it up for someone else.

If nothing else, those other people on my list are guaranteed one when they come in sometime tonight.

Here’s me and the founding members.
Such nice fellas.

That is a great story! I am glad you got your generator, and that you made some friends. :)

It is good to finally *see* you! You look sweet, kinda like I pictured you to look! :)

Uhhhhh hellllooooo PBM,
you’re going to have to send me the story of the dog penis.
I don’t care how.
I’ll pay the postage.

You know we love you too!

OK, Stace. Since you asked.

The story I wrote (that was on the cover of the journal I posted) was called "One Eyed Jack" (because it was about a one-eyed Jack Russell. Apparently, since that is a euphemism for penis (who knew? I didn't) and the story was *about" a penis, they changed the name to "Comic Relief in the ER."

Every paper copy of the journal I had was destroyed by Hurricane Sandy, along with most of my stuff. The company that published it has since gone to digital-only. But I can do a quick recap, if you like. :)

Gotta get off this board now! Hubby getting restless.

But.....The Great EggSperiment is on! I set 11 suspect Lafayette-schmoo'ed eggs in the bator today. They look like they are AC eggs, but could be Silkie mixed in.

I have 11 more that are going in the bator tomorrow that are definitely not all AC eggs. Again, could be Silkie, may even be from Flower, but that is less likely.

I will start candling on Day 3 and every day after. I figure, if I see no activity after a week, then they get tossed!

Wish me luck! :flI may just wind up with a partially black-skinned, feather-footed, black combed, mille-fleur-looking mutant, lol!!!
I cannot wait to see what hatches.

Yep, i'm going to get a few brushes I am pretty terrible about keeping them alive for long, mainly due to taking way longer breaks than I should or just putting them down and loseing them. What you need at the hardware store? ;)
Can't remember who said it, but I second the plastic baggie thing. I've never put them in the freezer, but if it's just a couple days I just wrap it up in a plastic grocery bag and leave the handle out so it doesn't get yucky.

UGH! I just had the morning from Tater.

The Milk Drinker was really wiggly and needy last night. He kept waking up and asking for Milkies (about 3-4 times during the night) even though He's been night weaned for about 5 months. He seemed ok this morning except for not wanting to eat much (in retrospect, I'm glad he didn't). So while DH, FIL, the Milk Drinker and I were on our way to church, the Milk Drinker projectile vomited ALL OVER. So we turned around and had to clean up the car (he got puke in one floor vents for the back seat) and his car seat which has more nooks and crannies that the Grand Canyon.
:sick how's he doing now?

My bathtub is being installed!

BB, gender still in question but that 14 week old is 4 lbs! (BB for Black Beauty or Black Betty when we get a crow or an egg.)
Next to Jr. Taterheads progeny who I’m thinking will take his place.
I'm going to go along w/ everyone else and tell you that your beautiful bird is a boy. Sorry. You got an awesome picture of his colors though! When you list him crop that pic down and post it. Someone will love his colors.

They forecast 1 to 2 FEET of rain here!
 Total, or all at once?

With everything in my being, I want you ALL to know I have missed you like a taco at Jack in the box.

The shit happenening... it aint evenfunny

My husband is retiring..... and my mom needs to come live with me
I feel torn
:hugs:hugs:hugs:hugs:hugs:hugs
Can you do a power of attorney thing instead of having to go through the whole adoption thing?

I knew someone was in NC! Make sure you use the generator in a well ventilated area. I don't want to nag, but I just remember seeing people using them in their garage thinking it was enough ventilation and ended up dying from the CO2. Just be careful and stay safe. :hugs
Will you be able to bring your birds inside or is their coop up high enough they'll be ok? I know your thing says coastal, but that means nothing to me.

Filling in coop holes, trying to figure out what I need to stock up on. Looks like rain will be the biggest deal here, but rain makes trees fall and trees cut power so doing what I can. Really hoping it just peters out to be honest. @staceyj Thank heavens you got a generator! One less worry!:woot
Oh good. I keep seeing the predictions and of course I don't know enough about where everyone lives (sorry, I'm not a very adept stalker) to know who's in the path. It doesn't help that WV and VA are still getting drenched by the remnants of Gordon. I think we all need to get together and build a ark.

I am not being selfish... I mean damn... you ALL mean so much to me......

Not even joking.... I DO think about every one of you daily.... and I feel bad that I'm not out here being your cheering section.... or letting you know just how much I truly LOVE you all......

I really love you all.

I want you to reread that sentence.

I really love you all.

Repeat it at least 3 times.

I really love you all.

If you ever think you are alone... you aren't. You can always call me and I will be there.

I truly love you all

Real quick, because I am trying to stick (more or less!) to Henny's schedule idea (yesterday it worked great, today I am definitely slacking. But it works. When I have a timer--and a schedule--it enables me to quantify how much time I am wasting on the internet, getting distracted, doing nothing, feeling bad about it, etc. Thank you so much, Henny!! :love

And now, for the Great EggsPeriment, Day 4:

Quick summary: I set 11 Lafayette eggs on Day 1 and 7 on Day 2, that were saved in the fridge Put em in the bator. Yesterday I candled the first of the Day 3 ones and saw nothing.

Today I candled all of them and I have *one definite* spider, so far!!:wee

I did notice the beginning of--shall we say--a stinky aroma from the bator. I sniffed out the bad one and cracked it outside. It was nasty!

So now there are 17 eggs in the bator. I still have a bunch of possible Cemani eggs in the fridge, but they will be VERY old. But I am still keeping them. Just in case. And this is a fun experiment! :)
That is good for day 4!

Think I should enter this in the "Bad Molting Pics" contest?

Lol, that's my Silkie Olive, with the world's worst hairdo! It's been raining nonstop here for the past 4 or 5 days, and she looks awful!

Here's another:
