This doesn't look like a regular lash egg to me.
This reminds me of a meat spot in an egg...why or how it would get this big is beyond me.
It was inside the shell right?
Yes. Inside the egg was one totally normal yolk and white PLUS a huge horrifying glob of nasty. The glob thing was also attached to a little cord of tissue that extended outside the main egg and connected to a second tiny soft-shell or membrane. You can sort of see the tissue cord in this photo.

It looks like it's reproductive tract tissue. If I found that in a pea egg I would probably start that hen on Baytril just in case it was the start of an infection.

Is a vet an option?

Yes. There is a livestock clinic nearby that takes chickens...but it could take a few days to get her in. Should I wait for the vet, or start Baytril right away (assuming that is something TSC carries)?
