That bit of info in pounded into our little heads in first grade just for moments like this!
My lav's have those tree trunk legs too, they're also ENORMOUS birds and much bigger than all the others. I'm concerned for when they reach maturity, they'll squash all my girls.
They're beautiful. How old are they?
Great job!
We LOVE zoos. I hope you guys have a good time!
Beautiful! What kind are they?
That sounds kinda like Jackie. She always laid thin shelled eggs, rarely did I get something functional from her, (she also started laying REALLY late. Recently she's started laying normal eggs, though I've gotten a few thin shells here and there. Not sure what caused it, but I've noticed that my girls LOVE egg shell a lot more than the oyster shell. Maybe that would help.
I did start giving my girls calf manna this summer, so maybe that's why Jackie started laying real eggs.
If you're getting the roofing material from a hardware store you should be able to get them to cut it for you. Maybe call around til you find a place that will do it. Make sure you wear gloves when you're moving it around though.. it'll still be sharp.
As for the dog poop, my parents use a scooper, then toss it in a bucket then toss that into the woods periodically.
I use the bucket method for the chickens too, but I empty it every day into a pile away from the coop. Though, in the winter I wait til it's full b/c of snow. So maybe just emptying it more frequently would be the answer.
I didn't know that's what those things were called. I see them around our apt and they are horrible.
Wow. so they didn't do the crushing/ burying part? Or didn't empty it?
Great job! Can't wait for baby bunnies!
Um.. Happy Bday? Have you figured out who's sick yet? Hopefully it's nothing too bad and is just some major intestinal lining shedding. Willie had a big glob of it mixed in w his poo on his roosting space. I will never get used to that or seeing the rocks in their poo from when they empty their crop.
