Thank you Suzi! I have been laid up all day with muscle spasms. This really turned my whole day around though :D

How are you doing? How is the recovery process going?
Well.....my hand is bruised and sore but improving every day. But now DH and I both have fevers, congestion and coughs . To top it all off I'm getting a whopper of a cold sore. :th

SMH!!!!

What a tatered up day! I am sorry Stacey.
My 2013 Honda Civic has issues too. Random warning lights etc. Had it towed in on a Saturday (I know a guy ;)). While I am talking to the service desk.......I see a tech head out with a code reader........guess what? Yup he reset the code of course the answer was "there aren't any warning messages showing up."
:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused: Is all they do.
:smack:smack:smack:smack:smack Is what I wanted to do.
Yup. It’s all about the codes now. No code must = no actual problem.
And I don’t know “a guy” like you do!

But I’m getting to know alllll the tow truck guys that triple A sends me, and I bet they are getting sick and tired of getting calls from me.

I buy new batteries from Walmart. Of course none of the cars have a maintenance agreement
It was more the principle of the thing.
Could I have just gone and bought a battery? Sure.
But when 2 different two truck drivers tell you to go back to the dealer and stomp your feet til they put a new one in, that’s what I’m taterin gonna do.

It seems like one extreme or the other. No one will treat a chicken if it's sick or you have to spend hundreds on testing to have it die then pay to have it necropsied.
I take my pets to vet when they are sick and I can't treat it. I hate to say it but if one suddenly dies I wouldn't send it for necropsy.
My last 4 chicken losses were all Swedish Flowers. C.C I thought had eaten to much of the spent beer mash that wasn't stored properly. I feared the same for the little cockerel that showed signs on wry neck within a few days. I culled him. With Sugar I felt like it was a life long struggle for her. She was always soooo meek with the other chickens and they took advantage. With the loss of Trouble, I'm at a loss. He wasn't looking his best recently and was molting pretty good for the first time in his life. I thought Taterhead was using it to his advantage and trying to get top spot back. I never thought he would go belly up on me. That's how I found him. Flat on his back, legs in the air.
My first 6 were all hatched from the same shipped eggs. I hatched 3 of their offspring and culled the one boy. So I'm down to a hen, a pullet, a rooster and a cockerel. Their genetics concern me now.
They all seemed strong and healthy till the loss of C.C. I just don't know.
Its frustrating when you don't know. I lost 2 chickens in Aug. One I found dead in the run and the other I had in my house for a month trying to nurse her back to health. I eventually had my vet euthanize her. I got them both from the same lady I got all my chickens from but these 2 were mixed breeds that were the chicks of her rooster but another lady's chicken. Not sure if it's just coincidence or not

Definitely! Most battery warranties are three years

It would only take one smirk for me to turn nasty. Nobody gets smirky when my animals need help, especially if it is your tatering job. If I ask a question all I better get is an answer!
I am not trashing the veterinary profession at all but I have had trouble building rapport with vets here. I miss my “country vet practice” that I had in Virginia.
Things have changed on the business end of veterinary medicine since the field has gone to daytime vets/ nighttime and weekend regional emergency vets.

IMHO, Pets are like human kids. They don’t get sick or injured mon-fri 9-6.
They save that stuff for the weekend.

I’m struggling to hold on for just a few more weeks with the practice I’m in.

I don’t feel at all cared about as a client or customer or pet parent or whatever the term is nowadays.

I also feel like they smirk when I ask intelligent questions or disagree in any way.

I’m currently researching.

Just moved my poor little naked hen into the hospital coop. She has been hiding from the flock all day and tonight the cockerel was harassing her at roost time. :hit
I thought about putting him in a coop by himself, but I want to make sure she is getting plenty of food and water. So into the little coop she went. Poor poor baby :(
