Official Squatch Watchers

that does happen! It seems many think a chicken is a chicken-- like chicken dinner or some such nonesense
Well he's dealing with a lady who takes her girls seriously. He's seen how they're kept, they're family. I'm a little insulted, but i'm trying to be good.:)

So he basically wants your sweet Marlene??

Heck no!!

You offered to hatch babies for him. I think that's very nice of you.

Lol. I wish him luck with TSC. :lau
Might end up with a bunch of meaties or males.

Yes :woot giant dogs!
Honestly I kinda feel bad for her. If she has questions then she likely is sad.
Yeah! Marlene, who needs bumblefoot surgery everytime I turn around. The Marlene that I have to make sure gets extra everything because she lays so big. Yep he wants that Marlene! I not only offered to hatch but get them through the first two months. They'll know how to be chickens and not be scared taterless of people. Plus eight weeks is the most fragile time. Marlene's children are no cakewalk, i'm being a saint! I just can't get over how pushy and ungrateful people can be.:barnie

He doesn't seem to understand, that's for sure. So if you raise a batch for him and half are boys... who gets the boys?

Yup, about time for the autum wave of " my hen is crowing" threads isn't it?:lau And jeeze on the craigslist people, two months is a long time.
I got a message from the person who was supposed to take the boys almost 2 months ago asking if I still had them. Um, no. I did suggest watching craigslist when they're ready for them. People who bought those TSC chickens in the fall should be discovering they have roosters pretty soon.

I'd suggest craigslist. People are getting rid of birds all the time. If he's willing to buy a bird I'm sure there's places all over that they could buy from, esp just ordering online.

Yeah, sounds like he's not missing out on much. I mean, I get her wanting some kind of connection if they are related, but knowing how people can be... you're likely better off. She may have been looking to find him b/c they have all those heartwarming 'finding a long lost family member' stories all over the place now.. but if he's not lost and doesn't want to deal w/ any of that, who can blame him. Personally, I wouldn't want to deal with it. I'm not very family oriented anyway... I have a full brother I haven't seen in about 3 1/2 years and haven't talked to since then. I texted w/ him a couple weeks ago for the first time in forever. Not that I have a problem with him.. we just don't family much.

Having her number is good in case he decides he wants to contact her, but that's about as much as I'd do. My brother's ex keeps trying to go through our mom to get to my brother.. he's like IDGAF and my mom won't let it go. I think she's finally realized the ex is just trying to use her (she couldn't figure it out on her own that the ex just wanted someone to put her kid (not my brother's kid) on the bus was the only thing she was looking for)... You really have no idea of some people's motivation so it's better to be cautious in these situations. You did the right thing.

Questioning peoples motivation keeps us out of trouble a lot!
It is one of those things that fishing the info out would mean lots of contact.
We aren't people oriented here lol. Happy as a pig in tater to just have a quiet house without drama ya know.

Don't let him push you around.
People can be such taters.

If he keeps pushing then maybe he deserves to do the chicken hunt on craigs or TSC.
:p

The boys would be his. I told him unsexed I hatch and he gets what he gets. That is the rule for anybody I hatch for. If I hatch roosters in my little broods for myself then those are my responsibility. There are exceptions, any disabled roosters or hens would stay with me and just be taken off the price. I can't trust people would do right by them.:)

Oh he's not! If he was in such a blasted hurry he should have hit me up in the spring. Not like he had that many more birds then. He's just a demanding little old coot and expects people to jump. I don't jump.;)

Oh, the 2 months people weren't from craigslist. I'd posted the boys on my fb page first b/c I know a couple people (him included) who'd had chickens and was hoping they'd go to someone who wouldn't eat them since they seemed like nice boys. I didn't mind giving them to him, or waiting, but it was at the point where I really needed them to be gone, I gave him another chance to come get them and he didn't respond for over a week. His loss. The guy I gave them I did have to text and ask if he still wanted them b/c he live a ways away and I was giving him a chance to look at a map. I'm glad they're gone, but it would have been nice to not have to feed them for 2 extra months.
