Official Squatch Watchers

I skipped a lot but went back a few pages to get current events. Thursday and Friday were a long week. Also not looking forward to next week but oh my bird seem to be doing well. Trim some butt feathers yesterday and noticed this on one of them

Is that from a yeast infection? Everyone else I checked seemed fine.
Coops not too bad with temperature and moisture and wind. I finally found some pdz at a different Tractor Supply & bought 2 bag so I don't have to go back there soon. Just for my own personal clarification the night that we're supposed to -10 degrees, my birds should be okay correct?

Girl, I tried! Just ended up shootin asprin across the kitchen. These little crackers are hard!
Iv'e been putting them in the mort and pestle and just cracking down on them that way and iv'e still managed to launch a few.:gig
Killin me :giglol. Chewables next time perhaps?

My first go around with lice was a test of my patience. I tried the dust. No dead bugs. I tried coconut oil. The chickens looked ready for the fry pan, but still had bugs. That's when I went nuclear on the little creepy crawlies! I spent the big bucks and bought the Elector PSP. It really is buggy napalm. One and done, dead skin critters! It is a liquid though. In these temps that worries me. I don't have to soak the birds with it but the idea is to get it to their skin. Cold wet skin is bad. Even with a down coat.
I may be out there with a q-tip dabbing birdie butth¤les strategically.

And in case anyone want some buggy napalm....please let me know!

... I ordered chicks...
What kind of chicks?

Good morning! Sallie is still a bit limpy but vast improvement from yesterday. She is in much better spirits! Still giving the poor baby half a baby asprin though. Gave her half last night and half this morning. Did not appreciate how hard it is to split one of those tiny asprin.:)
I use a razor blade to split my bp pills. Works well.

Not really any damage. There's some two by fours under there that we're helping hold up the wire and tarp but they weren't by the part that snapped off the building. I tried to pull it up yesterday but underneath all the snow is ice and my drain isn't working because it's sagging so low. I'll have to wait until things are more liquid and I can get into that space.

Didn't Cappy or someone have mites last winter too?

I'm not saying I hate you, but I'm not happy with you right now.

You might try Bag Balm or Vaseline on their legs also. They'll hide underneath the scales.

I feel your pain.

We also use a Brita or Pur faucet mount filter. We have City water and it tastes like swimming pool water and it's gross. When I live with my mom the kids drank bottled water because she had well water and it was disgusting.
I would get an impartial third party to see what they think. If it does smell like rotten eggs then you can always bleach the well.
naaa, it doesn't bother me, i don't smell sulfur and i like the water

Normal Sunday here. Fondled 20 chicken butts and gave one a bath and blow dry. Oddly the worst infestation was the girl who roosts on the old garage door track.
I sprays nooks and crannies around the roosts and on the roosts. I don’t want to add too much moisture to the air. I put the heat lamp up too. Have it on for a bit to try and keep it dry out there.
That stuff is expensive and stinky but kills on contact.

It should work fine. Did you put drops on the vent? I have read instructions for that. and not mixing up the spray as a diluted solution and spraying.

I have had success using a weaker concentration as a spray. Lots of discussions as to weather it works or not. Funny when it did work for me very well. I bought the strongest version of captain Jacks dead bug juice.

Spinosad will persist in the coup for 4 weeks if not in direct sunlight and keep killing the mites for that time.

Very non toxic to the chickens too
