5 chicks isn't bad since you didn't expect any, not too many, & there's enough so you don't have to worry about them being raised alone.
Even if 4 of them did die, the remaining would have two doting mamas. I don't feel too bad about lone chicks if they have a mother (or mothers).

:barnie This weather!!

I just saw our extended forecast. :barnie:barnie
Low 20's Saturday and low teens Sunday! :barnie
Low forecast to be single digit barely above zero or slightly below zero!

I wonder it the seeds are mis labeled?

Those were Zinnia seeds in a packet that was 4 years old! I totally DID NOT expect 100% sprout at 2 days in!
:th

They popped up on Monday. Holy Moly I will have pots EVERYWHERE.

Don't get me wrong I am glad they are growing but rather surprised at the speed.
That is very good for 4 year old seeds. Zinnias are very pretty too

Morning folks :frow

Mo you put monsters in their coop :gig

I had a bail of straw in the barn for the nest boxes... The brats found it and no more bale... all over the floor... I guess I'll keep the next bale in the garage.:rant
I keep a bale in a big metal drum. I had a bale destroyed inside the coop, going to be hard to get it out without a pitchfork. Mine was sold when we left TN. :(
