We've run into a few hurdles with getting everything set up. The septic system being chief among them. The area we wanted to use for a drainage field has a water table that is WAY to high for a traditional system. So we are exploring other, more expensive, options. We are running a last ditch effort to see if moving the drainage field to a drier area across the property line onto what is still my parent's property will work.

Oh no! I would have thought t That would have already been checked by contractors before setting the houses. :(

Apparently, we were supposed to do that, but nobody told us. And we were quite rushed into getting the houses moved to the property.

Yup, fortunately, the local health inspector is willing to work with us. But if it gets too complicated, she might have to talk to her superior who apparently is a real stickler and might try to make an example of us. We know that ignorance of the law is no excuse, but how were we supposed to know the order of things?
