I hope it will be worth it. :fl I want to get going on apples and jerky. They are really talking about food shortages this winter. Good thing we are all so "preppy". :lau:gig
The Excalibur! Very nice! I'm a bit jealous. I'm hoping the one I got works out. It blows air from the bottom rather than the back. Otherwise it seems good. I got a store display being sold at clearance price. I'm hoping I don't regret it. Review are very good though on the model.

I was looking at the one you got too, I liked the price of it much better for sure.

Tracking info says my dehydrator is getting delivered today!!!
That's early considering I wan't expected it until between Monday and Wednesday. I am heading out to a fair for the day with the daily, but I if it's here when we get back I just might fill it tonight and let it dehydrate a batch of pickle chips.

How do you preserve your harvest?

I want recipes, pics, ideas, etc. Whatever you have, tell me all about it!
I've always wanted to build a solar dehydrator, I think one of them would be awesome.
We freeze most, can some. Pickles I just cold pack.
I have used a regular dehydrator for non keeping onions. Mostly grow Copra. They store good for many months.
I got into growing multiplier potato onions forgot about a paper bag of them one time was two yrs old and most still looked fresh picked. They grew again!

I couldn't resist. It arrived right after that last post. I already filled 10 trays with refrigerator pickle chips. Set for 4 hours at 158F. They should be dry when we get home.
Pro Tip - if you are going to be away or asleep when it is time for it to shut off, add extra time (unless you're doing honey, which can burn) That way, things that aren't quite dry keep going and you have lost no time in the process.
