That is the main reason I want this experiment to work...if I can prevent the hatching of males, I won't have to make that harsh decision! If I'd seen this experiment before I set my eggs those three male eggs wouldn't have be set.
Agreed!!
However I have a feeling the CCL, Cochin and the polish males may be a bit easier to find homes for. The OE males may be another story as the are just mixes.

Too bad we are so far apart!! I would give you mine!!
I can't believe people aren't knocking your door down to get those extra pullets!!

Yeah...I'd give her my three too! Hopefully that is the last three unwanted boys I hatch! I'm going to consider this theory proved if I hatch 11 pullets and one cockerel from these Cream Legbar eggs! We will know 21 days from Saturday! When do you think you'll be able to give the final stats on your last hatch?

I think I should be able to tell within the next 3 weeks. I can tell the difference in most of the OE chicks, it's the Polish that I am really struggling with. I think they need more time.
I will post results from OE chicks by this weekend. The CCL we already know, and I think I have it down on the Cochins.
I will post pics, and if I am wrong, just tell me.

Can anyone tell me if this chick is a Cochin?
I thought it was at first, however comparing it to the other Cochins I hatched, it doesn't seem to have the same amount of feathering on its legs/feet as the others do.

Here is a pic of the other Cochins I am comparing it to.

The CL eggs are set! I brought home 12, but one had some yolk and poop on it so I wanted to wash it...it must have had a hairline crack in it as it cracked in my hand when I was washing it off. Oh well...these things happen. All of the eggs but one should be girls, egg #5 is what I call the wild card, it should be a girl, but we'll see as it is the lowest numbered egg I brought home:

I measured 29 eggs
Lowest number is 71.05
Highest number is: 81.01

Egg # RESULT PREDICTED SEX
2 - 79.82201 F
3 - 81.23475 F
4 - 79.32692 F
5 - 77.8466 WILD CARD SHOULD BE FEMALE
6 - 81.01956 F
7 - 80.42955 F
8 - 80.08123 F
9 - 79.78881 F
10- 79.78895 F
11- 80.44919 F
12- 79.84036 F

I hope it works! I don't dare to set the rest of the eggs that you didn't take. I don't really need 17 more boys :) Time for scrambled eggs!
