Apollo is here! Yesterday was pretty eventful with a new puppy in the house. He's so darn cute, and such a good boy. Polar opposite of the high energy golden we're used to, and Cosmo loves him to death.
That being said, I forgot how much WORK brand new puppies are. He's only 8 weeks old, so obviously potty training is our main focus right now. And sleeping through the night. Last night we had him in an ex pen in the living room, and we put Cosmo's bed next to him so he wouldn't be lonely on his first night. He ended up waking up every 45 minutes or so and barking, so we'd take him out to potty and then back in the pen. By 2am Cosmo was over his barking and went outside, so he was totally inconsolable. I had gotten zero sleep at this point, so I disassembled the ex pen, moved it next to my side of the bed and stuck him in it. As long as he could see me and touch my hand periodically, he was okay. I got probably a good 45 minutes of sleep before 7am when we got up for good.
I think tonight we'll start out with him in the ex pen next to the bed, hopefully he'll have a better night and we can all get some sleep. I felt bad because our house isn't very big, and my son had school the next day. Thankfully tomorrow is his last day before spring break, so if Apollo has issues adjusting at night, at least Sheadon can sleep in or take a nap.
He figured out how to use the dog door in the first 3 hours that he was here, and he's pretty good about using the bathroom outside if I make sure to take him every hour.
So yeah. We're tired, but he's a super cute boy!
