Some of the roos are Cream Legbars. I may keep one (there are three) as he has such pretty colours and the funniest tuft of hair. He's also bearded. Just need to tame him a bit.

And one of my OEGB laid an egg! Such a freakingly tiny thing! I'm going to wait and see if they lay any more and incubate them! (no, I have not learned my lesson on that front, lol!)

Last year i wanted to strike a deal with my neighbors:
They help me building a couple of chicken-trailers for which i order 100 Fry Pan Bargain rooster chicks from Meyer's Hatchery and raise them.
At an age of three months they would come over and slaughter them as that's the only step i cannot do.
I help with the butchering and we split the birds 50:50.
Any rooster that turns out to be a hen they can have for their flock.
At first they said yes, enthusiastically, but then they chickened out.

Ducklings 4 weeks tomorrow having a good time outside today playing in the pool, pans, and the mud they have created. Got them some little pieces of strawberries, they went crazy, they were racing to grab them, and there was a few scuffles over some of the strawberries. Didn’t get any video or pictures of that, but got these just a bit ago, such a dirty little duck face on the pekin/white layer, not sure which one it is, leaning towards it maybe a white layer, I would think pekin would be a lot bigger than the rest at this point.

Oh dear... Is it worth getting her that hormone implant thingy?

Hello folks. Did not sleep. And not because of eggs having pipped. I'm getting very annoyed with not being able to shut down at night.
The what thingy? To simplify it, hormone implants are banned in animals here. But then most eating animals are male... so given chickens that lay eggs are female.... the rule makers would probably agree they are out of control and need to be pumped with hormones to rein them in. I won't go on my rant of why they pump women full of hormones though, thats for another forum 😁

Edited to add: you may have tried everything, but have you tried magnisum? since taking magnesium every night my sleep has gone from 3 hrs a night to my husband shaking me awake of a morning to make sure I'm breathing.
