One of my drakelings ran away today. in all the years I've raised ducks I've never had a runaway. The lings are 9 weeks old and scared of the axe murderer. I had just fed them and went to turn on the hose and left the coop door open a little. The little guy squeezed out saw me and took off through the woods. I let the ducks out cause their flock animals right and he'd come back to the flock. Nope. I spent hours hunting him gave up and put the ducks up. Finally found him at three but it took an hour to get him out of the woods. I don't get responsible duck owner of the week.

Again?! - Are you sure your dux aren't siphoning off the propane to heat their house?
Yup. And because of the snow storm, I was unable to get out to get more (I couldn't until payday). So I spent the day in bed wrapped in many, many blankets as my tiny heater kept the trailer temperature from dropping below freezing.

Attempted to go into town once the storm cleared enough to pick up duck feed. Little did I know that the lowlands were still getting the horrible white stuff, and then I got stuck in a long line of cars following a plow on the highway. I made it to the feed store right after they closed. In other words, I did not get duck food.

Since I was in town, I went to Walmart and picked up an extra heater. Now watch the power go out. >.>

I hope the extra heater helps. Do you have a way to insulate your trailer? Like tarping outside and using duck down in the walls?

I have all the windows covered with plastic to form a barrier, and most of the base outside is covered to minimize cold drafts. Most, which doesn't help. I do admit I could have done more to prepare for the winter, especially since I already had one under my belt living here, but I'm a notorious procrastinator.

I've also thought of building a 'shell' around the trailer, but at that point, I might as well just build a cabin, lol!

Good Afternoon and Evening Everyone.

We got close to 4" of snow late afternoon and night and this morning. It sure is pretty when it falls but boy it can get dangerous once it freezes like tonight we're going into teens. Everyone stay safe and warm.
@Canadian Wind do you still have birds inside?

Did they use the staple gun too?
No, but their beaks would probably apply enough pressure to use the staples lol
They found Them on the ground outside, I took them away while they tried eating them

They were fighting the other day and I was separating them, they both bit me and wouldn’t let go. They left four bruises :wee
