Egg counts have been steadily going down here since May this year, with a sharp drop in August. I guess all the duxlings running around and being snatched left and right was also stressful. When they are stressed the egg count goes way down to sometimes nothing at all. They might have witnessed Milka Duck getting carried off and know danger lurks nearby for them. They say that they can sleep on a pond to stay safe. That is good. I hope you do not have any snapping turtles. Stay safe Duckies, Good Luck Frank.
Coyotes may swim well, but they aren't stupid. The walls of my pond are very steep, it is even tough for the the dux to get out. Coyotes and Raccoons can only get in…Plus the Owls flying around overnight. They need to be in safe shelter plus coyote swin real well. @WannaBeHillBilly
Pretty good? Mine are pets and I love them, they were my first ducks here starting in 2004.What are you guys' opinions of Muscovy Ducks? My friend has some and she says they're pretty good...
Oh nice! I hear that they are a bit mean... and that they hiss???Pretty good? Mine are pets and I love them, they were my first ducks here starting in 2004.
Glad to hear no snapping turtles. Here they find every pond they can and lay their eggs and pretty soon there is a population of them. Mine gave me 5 eggs today after taking a small rest so I was happy for that. I am storing some up for the winter. Mine will only eat some veggies and lettuce and would never touch bread or table scraps as I like for them to eat duck food for my good eggs.Egg counts have been steadily going down here since May this year, with a sharp drop in August. At least i have two very responsible dux who went back into the house to lay their eggs, so the egg count for yesterday was two…
No snapping turtles in my pond!
I have two Muscovy Hens. My Drake got up to 15 pounds and was too hard on my Hens even though I had a lot of them so I rehomed him. He was beautiful though. I love my Muscovy as they are really sweet to me and make the prettiest sound being hens. My male even tried to mate my Mallard/Rouen drake when they were in drake jail together. Hens make the best pets and lay the biggest and best eggs too. What are you guys' opinions of Muscovy Ducks? My friend has some and she says they're pretty good...
