Speaking about Violeta Duck, she is about to go through one of her infamous hard moults, her feathers all look ruffled up and she is itching allover her body. In a bad mood she stays out of trouble for herself in the duck-house during the day.
In order to make her life a bit easier, i served her duck-soup with tomato, meal-worms and fresh salad.
She may looks calm, but in her head she has already bitten you three times…

Now imagine grumpy Violeta and Blanca Duck banding together. I am almost about to say poor drakes...

I've done it again. I've been looking at the online ads...

Picking them up on Thursday. :)
Four Females? - The brown one looks like a Buff Orpington, the gray one might be a Blue Swedish, the white one with the orange bill a Pekin and the one with the skin-colored bill might be one of Blanca's sisters, a White Layer.

The Pekin is a drake, and the seller said the white duck was also Pekin, but you and I know better. She also said the blue is a Swedish, and had no idea about the buff, but I also figure a Buff Orpington, which is a breed I like.

I'm going to have to dig out the second coop's door, so I can put them in there until they integrate into the flock. I've been keeping all the others in the larger coop for the winter since I never got around to fixing the roof on the other one.

I really don't need another drake, though. I'll see if I can sell him at the Poultry Fair in May. I have a Muscovy drake that I'm going to bring, too, as well as a few bunnies. Again, too many males.

The white duck could be a White Layer or an Aylesbury Duck, which is an old meat-breed (unlikely) but there is also the possibility of a white Appleyard or Magpie.
How old are these duckies? - Once full grown, you will know what she is, the White Layers are much lighter than the other breeds.

They're 2 years old, according to the seller, so full grown and mature. My white Magpie has an orange bill.

So i stick with White Layer. Standing more upright that the Pekin would confirm that.
Of course she could also be a Barnyard Surprise duck. Harry Duckini is one of last year's incubator-gang, aka the dirty dozen, and he is completely white, runs like a runner but has a stronger statue and is taller that a runner. I have no clue what genes went into him…

I dont know about that, I have 2 pekins and 3 white layers, there is only a little difference of Pekins weight more, about 1/2 pound in mine.
so maybe my pekins are smallies and my layers are biggies lol
Exactly that! - Ducks come in all sizes and statures, like us humons.
Blanca Duck is the smallest and lightest of my White Layer Ducks and i have seen Pekin Ducks with a small stature. The best giveaway for a Pekin Duck are the orange legs and the orange bill. Though the neighbors pekin's bills turned green after laying eggs for years.

I'll be asking questions when I pick them up, including where they came from, and health history. With her pink bill, I find her much more attractive than regular white ducks (aka Pekin look).

I've already named her Marshy (short for Marshmallow). The buff will be Cinnamon, and the Swedish is Turnip. :lau
