Less daylight will be the culprit. Although many young ones that start laying soon will probably lay all through winter. They did here anyway.
Mine never lay in the winter, even that year's young ones. I never expect eggs from them until the following Spring. :(

They are more concerned with retaining their body heat during the brutal Canadian winter than popping out eggs that would freeze instantaneously anyways. 😉
 
I've stopped getting notifications for this thread. So I am dropping in. Duck eggs are in incubator. A picture for good measure to stay in the quack shack
