Quick question: How many birds did everyone start with and how many do you have now? (chicken and duck math has gotten to me!)
I started with 5 ducks, went to 7, sadly 2 pekins got attacked so down to 5, then I got a mallard, then I got 2 pekins :).. I started with 11 chickens and a rooster (I love rooster's) then I got a bucnh more... now having over 25  along with 3 guineas who are just to funny not to have. :lau

Not pets, they act as pets and let us get close to them, they stay all year around and eat corn, although our oldest died and we haven't seen them in a while, just her 'babies'.
That's really neat! I can only imagine have deer around all year. The deer's here in Florida are pretty small compared to most places. Although we do have the Key Deer, which is the "bantam" of deers. Very cute, sadly though they do not live anywhere near here (they're in the Keys). They are also endangered. I only got to see them once on vacation, but it was a very neat experience.

Thanks Trim! Your words have been very encouraging. :hugs
I actually went to bed sometime around 2:00 or 2:30 yesterday. I even got a few hours of sleep! :clap
If you ever need some words of encouragement, you know where you can get them. Hope your day has been off to a great start. :hugs

I've seen some like you described on a vacation to Maryland, very tame though.

I started with 7 Isabella leghorns and two Marans. Then ordered 25 rouens and 25 heritage turkeys and 25 delawares. At my high point, I was up to about 250 birds total, now I'm down to a little less than 100. Mostly BH and RIW.

I started out making friends with 3 dumped Muscovy drakes at the river below our home. Fell in love with them so went and bought 3 females. This was in 2004. 2 of the drakes died before I could bring them home but one did come to live with us and the 3 females he was 1 month shy of 12 when he passed away. At one time I had 15 only Muscovy then in 2016 a member sent me Runner and Buff eggs and my Muscovy hatched them for me I split the eggs between 3 females to incubate.
Now I am down to 5 Muscovy and 9Runners and 2 Buffs. and 18 chickens, cochin bantam, OEGB Chocolate Orpington, EE's, Salmon Faverolles and game/game bantam, started out in 2009 with adopting a Game hen and her newly hatched brood of 10 that were hatched in the woods where my dh was working. and 2 geese. No partridge in a pear tree though. ;) Still have 1 rooster left from the first ones he was 10 this past August.

:clap That's a lot, bet the feed bill would agree

Oh yes the feed bill I try not to think of that. But I probably have a drop in the bucket compared to Bob or Chris. How about you tell us about your adventure with poultry.:caf
Hmm.. it's pretty challenging but I've found a love in rescuing my poultry, my mallard was for game- water fowl and had never touched water in her life, my pekins I didn't plan on rescuing but it happened.. (I also rescued my other 2 pekins I had before these guys) I also rescued my chickens from being game chickens. Overall I love the experience and time with them but i'm now mad because the corn only use to cost $5 now it's $15 for the winter, I really don't understand this!
