I have short hair Dachshunds and a med size mix bird dog and there is a lot of hair laying around. I tell my dh if they ever do an autopsy on either of us we probably have hairy innards. I have had Goldens and Afgan hounds lots of hair too. But it's surprising how much hair short hair dogs can shed too, and all over our clothes too

Yes! I actually think short coated dogs are worse in a way because at least with Goldens and stuff it tumbleweeds into corners or under stuff for the most part. With Labs, each individual strand weaves it’s way into the fabric of the couch or your clothes or whatever permanently. :lau

We don't really have a shedding issue here, but there are little blankets all over the place. If you can't find one of the dogs just look for the breathing blanket.

Amazing!!

We used to have a Lab/Great Pyrenees mix and supposedly the Pyrenees are sometimes referred to as a “rug with a heartbeat” :lau totally true for him! He would have gladly slept all day if we let him I’m sure. :lau

I bet I would too. Sounds pretty good. I'm not that great at boiled eggs in general. Any suggestions on getting them peelable? I did use pretty fresh eggs. Would older eggs be easier?
Yes.. Older ones peel easier.
I've been known to use a spoon. . always break them on the air cell end. Sometimes you can shove a spoon up in there and separate the shell from the membrane.

Hairless dogs are a thing? That might be about the only way my husband would let me have a second dog. Cosmo sheds a whole new dog every day. Two dogs a day worth of hair when he's "really" shedding in the spring and fall. I think it's how golden retrievers reproduce... through shedding.

:lau the shedding with retrievers is awful! Have you considered a poodle or one of the other hypoallergenic breeds? That way it wouldn’t shed but you could still pet something soft. :lau

I SO feel your pain. I now have "going out clothes" and "forever furry" clothes. If we're going somewhere nice, we have to wait until the last minute to put on our clothes, and then basically avoid the dog/run out of the house before he wants to rub against your legs. And even then I usually have to have a lint roller ready just in case. Because he's a golden retriever... I'm NEVER alone. Ever.

:lau we used to have to do that too! Gator also drooled a lot so my brother used to always yell at him to stay away or for us to hold him if he was wearing something nice :lau

I don't like the look of hairless cats, I prefer mine to be snuggly and fuzzy. But after 2 years of golden retriever tumbleweeds and accidentally eating dog hair, I can appreciate a hairless dog.

:lau I feel like they’d be really weird to pet.

I like having fur to grab but the shedding is definitely annoying. That’s why I’ve been leaning more and more towards a poodle :lau

They absolutely would. Cosmo barks at everything/everyone from inside, but as soon as they come in the house or come up to him, he's a giant baby. One friendly glance and he's your best friend for life. My only hope is that a burglar hears his "vicious" bark from the outside and decides it's not worth it. If they decide to come in, might as well give them the keys to the house.

:lau same with our last dog. Acted super scary and protective but once you came in he was fine.

She's gorgeous! A black golden retriever, I love it! Labs/Goldens have such high instances of cancer and tumors, it's horrible. I'm so sorry that Ladybug had to go through that. Dogs should live as long as their humans. Why can't we figure out a way to make that happen?

The cancer is why I’m hesitant to get a Golden. :hit

I've always been partial to the Chinese Crested.

I love them!! Also love the powder puff version. :love

My mother in law has a poodle, my husband hates him, lol. Not really, but he dislikes poodles for whatever reason. I’ve never met a poodle with a temperament that I really loved. And I’m 100% biased but I just love golden retrievers. I’ve always wanted one and now that I have one, he totally completes me. (Yes I have a husband and a son but the dog trumps them both 😂 just kidding. Maybe. Probably not kidding.)

We fostered for the mid Florida golden rescue last year and was placed with the sweetest old soul. He was only 5 but he was just so wise and amazing. Reminded me of Shadow from Homeward Bound. We only had him for a few weeks but he taught our much younger golden so much, I’ll be forever grateful to Bailey dog! He was adopted by the sweetest retired lady and I still get updates and pictures from her!

And yeah, the golden cancer statistics terrify me. And hip dysplasia. No lie, Cosmo is the only member of our family that has insurance. 😂 It makes me feel better, but I know that sometimes there aren’t any options when it comes to cancer.

Get a golden anyway! Just stay away from backyard breeders. I see WAY too many that come into the rescue with debilitating health issues that could be totally avoided with decent breeding. And they’re surrendered solely because the families couldn’t afford medical treatment. It’s devastating.

Anyway, goodnight all! Cosmo is ready for bed.
