It is 44 degrees here right now. Supposed to get down to 38 tonight. I'm loving these warm temps!

We're down south and not supposed to get cold until February, but things happen... It's not uncommon for me to cook Christmas dinner on the grill wearing shorts and a T-shirt, but I don't think that's going to happen this year.

@Duck_life How long has the leg and foot been like that? You'll need to soak in warm Epsom salt water or betadine and warm water or just plain warm water if your going to do the tub instead of a bucket. After soaking apply clear iodine you may have to soak many times over a period of day maybe a week and apply the iodine until the scab is loose enough you can peel it off. You can try with your nail or with a pair of tweezers. It's very inflamed though for him to not be using his leg. You need to start asap because you don't want staff to move to other areas. Actually a vet would be a good idea if you can.

How's your Guinea?

Guinea is good, be are options.. cost is higher though around 100 dollars though the drives are only 15-20 minutes... Jeez looks like I'll be busy, how long do I need to do this for, minutes, weeks, when do I start.to peel it?

Soak at least 10 mins you can do it 1x a day. You can find clear iodine at CVS and Walmart or other pharmacy. You want to make sure the scab is ready to come off so you don’t pull and healthy skin tears. Once you get the scab off hopefully you can pull the plug of infection out. Once plug is out you pack with antibiotic ointment and wrap to keep his foot clean till healed. He has some serious infection so you don’t want to put this off. I would rather go about it this way than cut. I have had to do both.

You just need to get on it and try your best to do it by option 1 hopefully you’ll be able to take care of without cutting. Just keep us updated while your treating him.

Soften that bugger up a lot!! I use epsom salt and dawn dish soap.. and lots of warm/hot water..

when you get the scan off you should see a “green” ugly pussy core...

I agree, pull it if you can. Maybe soak after you get the scab off then pull..

Cutting works but you (me/I) always seem to miss soMe when I cut.

The council changed the bylaws, being local laws - I don't know if you have those there. I'm not sure whether there were many complaints, but keeping poultry in town is becoming more popular, and someone saw fit to limit it.
