Love this method of rooting...hadn't seen this before. Thank you so much for sharing!!Once they are done blooming I'm going to attempt to air layer about 8-12 of the lower branches. It's right by the street and is about time for a trim. If it goes well you're welcome to a couple of trees.

I haven't actually watched this video, so I might not do it exactly like this, but this is what air layering is.

The initial setup is more work, but it's just a matter of waiting once it's going. I've done it with magnolia, and fire bush so far. I've had much better results vs taking cuttings. Biggest draw back is you can take many more cuttings than you can entire branches. It does however give you "tree" that's 1-2 years more advanced though depending on how big of a branch you use.Love this method of rooting...hadn't seen this before. Thank you so much for sharing!!
Little more work but looks like it should yield better success than traditional cuttings.
That's what I was thinking too, taking a pretty big branch gives you a nice size starter tree. I'm going to try this for sure! The initial setup is more work, but it's just a matter of waiting once it's going. I've done it with magnolia, and fire bush so far. Ehh, I'll just give them to you. It literally will only cost me about $3 to root them all. It won't be for 4ish months though. They'll bloom for about a month, seed for about a month, then takes about 2 months to get a good root ball. That's impressive! I had no idea this was a thing. I'd gladly pay you for a couple of those!
Yes Miss we do. I've got 3 in my front yard. That's what I was thinking too, taking a pretty big branch gives you a nice size starter tree. I'm going to try this for sure!
Do you have Live Oak or are you too warm?
