I never trust the forecast around here for that reason. But, I am always aware of the possibility of things.

Last year, about a month or two after I moved here, we got hit with a really bad wind storm. Power down for three days from the trees falling on the lines.

We got a worse storm this Spring, that was several hundred kilometers wide. Devastated a huge chunk of Ontario. No power for... six days, I think? Lost everything in the freezers. But we were lucky up here. In the city (Ottawa) huge trees were uprooted and destroyed houses. Some people were out of power for a month! Roads closed all over, you couldn't get around. I'd never, in my 55 years, seen anything like it. It was like a giant hand came along and just bowled everything over.

WOW that is sad. It's been quite a while since we had anything like that but we have been out of power for 6 days before went and bought a generator after that one . Thankfully we have a wood stove and the storm that took out our power because of trees uprooting and falling on the lines was in the dead of winter so I was able to pack everything into coolers and put it down into the heavy snow and ice. Cooked on our wood stove and gas grill. It's amazing what you can get buy with when you have too.

Sometimes it helps us to live through a crisis to learn just how well we can do without essentials. The only thing I really missed was a hot shower.
I missed having some hot tea, until I remembered my stovetop is propane, too! :D But I was almost out, so conserved as much as possible.

But yeah, I made it through the week with no issues. Bored without internet, but charged my phone in my car so at least could chat with the BF. Did a lot of reading and dot-to-dots, too. And spent time outside with the ducks.

Hello...

Had to bring in my BLR Wyandotte roo yesterday after he injured himself, to keep an eye on him. The cacophony of him and PeeWee crowing at each other was enough to make me want to make stew and squab out of them.

And, I think I have a cold. >.<

Morning chores, then I'll see if going back to bed is feasible. Too cold and wet out there.
