That orange bucket full of greens filled five 1 gallon zip-loc bags, so i have Mustard Greens for the ducks for ten evenings. They will be so happy when they get some green stuff in the depth of winter!

They are so happy just listen to them. It's like a purr in a cat.

@WannaBeHillBilly you must be from south Germany to grow greens, here in the south east greens are very popular with a side of cornbread

Happy Friday everyone! Came home from work to find one of my Old English Game Bantam eggs had hatched!

Yes, I'm still an idiot for hatching out eggs in the cold, but I figure these guys are small enough not to take up too much room, lol! I'll try to get some good pics later.

And no, I did not assist the hatching. In fact, one of the reasons I decided to try this was to see how my incubator's internal thermometer was. Apparently, better than the one I used on my duck eggs...

That is why i call them my feathered cats! - And for their love for cat-food, of course.

I am actually from the Cologne area, the Rhineland in Germany and i didn't know anything about greens at all before moving to the U.S.A..
Remember i lived for ten years in Houston, Texas and greens are very popular in the South as a side-dish to BBQ. As a big fan of all types of BBQ i learned about the various kinds of greens very quickly and have successfully grown Mustard- and Turnip-Greens here. Next year i want to try Collard Greens.

Congratulations! - Indeed very tiny, it seems the eggs are larger than the chick.
What colour are your Old English chickens? - I looked up the name and saw they come in all kinds of different colour patterns.

Thank you! They are Duckwing (I found that hilarious) and I think the silver ones.

Thsi was taken right after I got them. They've put on a bit of weight since then. Looks like the previous owner probably showed them, or at least the roo, since his comb has been trimmed (I do not agree with this practice!). Also, you can see they have leg scale mites, which have been taken care of also.
