Then i had and still have to harvest as much Mustard-Greens as possible before the upcoming hard freeze on Sunday - of course it started to rain ducks and dogs, so i got "only" one Homer-Bucket full of greens...
This was the Greens patch before harvesting:

And here it is after cutting down one bucket full of greens:

Barely made a dent. Whatever i cannot harvest, will turn into green fertilizer in spring.
What am i doing with so much greens? - First i use Mustard greens like spinach (i.e. in omelettes) and like Parsley in soups and stews, i.e. Bean-Soup:

But i also freeze zip-lock bags with greens and use it during the Winter.
Smaller bags (250 grams) for the humons and larger bags (1Kg) for the Ducks. You should see the ducks digging into those greens in January/February …

And i wanted to winterize the Duck-Run by putting up some tarps on the top, so it wouldn't turn into a dangerous skating range during periods of frosty temperatures:

Of course all the ducks ran for the hill when i was unfolding those large duck-eating tarps…
Now it looks kind of cozy inside of the run:

Unfortunately i have trained them not to go into the vegetables garden during the grow season, so they are very,very hesitant to go inside, even if i try to heard them in.
But you're correct, it would be great to have them turn the green fertilizer into slimy green fertilizer…

And yes, that soup is yummy! Nothing better than a bowl of hot soup when you com back inside, wet and cold. But - we have a saying in Germany, like »Every bean will make a sound«…

And i am not done with winterizing...
Need to continue with the greens, fortunately i don't have to wash the greens for the ducks, they don't care about extra protein in the form of bugs or grubs…
I must haul more wood-chips around the house into the duck-yard. The ducks have eaten every little bit of grass and the ground has turned into a mud-flat again. I almost fell yesterday evening…
I must wash all the duck equipment...
The little greenhouse needs to be washed...
The heating cable must be fitted into the duck waterers...
The dump-pipes of the duck waterers must be insulated…
There are shrubs growing in the gutters...
My employer is asking me to select the benefits for 2023…
The wife is pressuring me to clean the cars…
And…
