I pray that all goes well, so happy to hear that the egg was still warm. Hopefully it will hatch just fine and everything will be ok. Thanks so much for the update.
Appreciate your words but sad to say the little one didn’t make it. But I am thankful for the two we did get♥️

Today's progress...

- Junior the PTSD little duck shook of the fear and actually went and ate from the public mixed-grains plate - OK she did it when the others were gorging on pellets but still it's a giant step forward from just sitting around and not eating unless in the crate

- the same Junior is now able to jump out of her private swimming pool and run to join the other ducks, and is getting harder to catch, which is a very good sign

Today's thoughts...

- it's hot and the ducks are very noticeably hiding in the shade, 30+ C (86+ F) is forecast all the upcoming week... what if I run the sprinklers, they should be a game and a benefit for them? (They run from a well, not from mains water, thankfully)
I bought a couple of sprinklers on that "never to be mentioned" web-site and the reactions were insane: All my ducks are afraid of the garden-hose, with the exception of the duck that grew up here last year. But those are an exception anyways, they are the friendliest ducks i have ever raised, allow me to touch them and when i pick up one they won't panic.
Anyways, most of the ducks are afraid of the garden hose, the Runners dislike any kind of artificial rain, even from the oscillating sprinkler - but they looooove natural rain.
So i tried a static sprayer nozzle, basically it blows the water mist-like vertical into the air. - Boring!
A simple spray sprikler with multiple nozzles. - Still boring!
A small rotating sprinkler that is pushed into the ground was a great success until one of the ducks ran over it.
The large rotating sprinkler, three arms adjusted to different angles so that everything from the sprinkler to the radius of the waterpressure is covered in drops is the best. The ducks flock around it, zip through the rain-area and catch the water drops from the air. Even the ducklings join! I just have to limit the water pressure to a point where the drops don't fly up too high.

I think it was just that she is young and inexperienced. The nest was in the coop.

Yeah, glad I found him. I'd noticed that not all the babies were with mom (this was before the catastrophe) so I walked around listening for peeps. Little bugger was tough to catch! He ran right into the long grass to get away from me!
Same as with Buffzilla, first time mom i assume. - I remember when Pinball Duck hatched her first rascals, she thought after they've hatched, her job was done… Fortunately some of the other ducks took over.
