Given an afternoon off from a project in San Jose, i decided to drive down highway 101 south, just to see what it looks like. I made it through the little town of Gilroy after which i had to stop and find something to eat immediately due to the appetizing smell of garlic that came out of the vents of my rental car.
Talking to the owners of the little hole in the wall i learned that Gilroy is the (self-proclaimed) garlic-capital of the world and that the garlic here is the of the best quality.
Bought some garlic for too much money and it was a disappointment. The Mexican garlic at our local supermarket in Houston was much stronger and had a better aroma…
I lived in Monterey for 6 months years ago and loved looking at the ocean from my point of view at work every day. I missed our seasons when I lived there though even though the weather was beautiful until the rainy season hit. I am glad that you were able to find some good garlic. I have never liked it myself, my stomach says its not good for me, lol.

I love garlic, since i was a child. My dad hated it and wouldn't eat food that he knew was spiced with garlic. - If he didn't knew he would eat it with pleasure… 🤣
The only garlic that gave me trouble was Romanian garlic, grown in Transylvania. - I mean, of course we had to eat garlic there to protect us from all those pesky vampires! 🧛🏻‍♂️
This garlic is grown in a rather cold climate with harsh winters and cool summers and that somehow results an very strong aroma. First time i ate it i was all teared up for minutes and then i took another bite because the aroma was so good and was teared up again and i couldn't stop eating that garlic. Much later my stomach got very upset... But it never stopped me from eating Transylvanian garlic.
Monterrey! - I love to visit California, the landscape, the views, the ocean...
But i don't want to live there ever, the taxes, the housing prices, the gas prices …
You have to be able to live there.

my ducks eat all the cucumbers that make their way through or over the fence. but when confronted, they blame it on the dog.
My ducks are allowed to eat all the parts of the sweet-potato plants that grow through the fence of the sweet potato patch. They looove to eat that stuff and i still get sweet potatos…

Update on Blanca Duck, day 38: Had a long and noisy discussion with Blanca this morning when she told me that she does not want to go into the duckling box today. Instead she wants to train her leg by walking around, so i opened the patio-door and left her with the difficult decision: »Should i stay or should i go?!«
It took her almost three hours before she decided to leave the patio, she is outside for now and so far doing fine, keeping away from the drakes. Not sure what the Missus decides on where to sleep tonight…
