Some explorers like to sit in the duck run after they come back from their pond exploration.

Speaking about the pond: Same as last year most of the flock prefers to spend the cold nights on the pond instead of sleeping in their warm, comfortable and safe house:

Why do the go to the pond during the winter when it is lousy cold and sit around the house, panting during the hot summer weather?
Almost all of our ponds on my route are all frozen over. It's been terribly cold and windy here. Sunday will help thaw things out a little bit at least.

We got all of those winds also and I woke up to no power. Luckily I set 2 alarms and my battery back up one woke me up. I got ready to go by flashlight but made it to work in plenty of time and then just as I was going out the door the power came back on. I was just glad to get it back. Those winds uprooted trees and took all of the old limbs out of ones that they did not. It is very windy here still with icy temps. All of my water buckets but the heated ones are froze over. Of course it will be 50 F here in Sunday and I am looking forward to that and so are my ducks.
I don’t think you’re too far away from me because my weather is extremely similar to what you just described

Happy
Sunny Skies Saturday
to Everybody!
Well, except for our friends in the Pacific Northwest, Texas and Canada who have a Strange Weather Saturday…
The whole duck flock, including Sunny's offspring, spent last night together comfortably and warm in the duck-house. - Too bad that the pond is still broken…
