~The Sapphire Gem~ A Breed's Chat Thread

I am so glad I found this thread! I picked this baby up out of a straight run bin just because it (hopefully she!) is beautiful, but I've had no idea what it is. Does anyone think it might be a Saphire Gem? View attachment 1403485 View attachment 1403491
This is my sapphire gems at about the age of yours. They are now 11 weeks.

Ok I think I have 2 males and a female.... any input? They are 6 weeks old
The picture of the chicken in the house alone I believe is a male.... he's huge I think the lighter is a female but I'm undecided about the other...
They all fight like males though :( and if they are all males I will be sad

All of those look male with this big red combs and the barring on the feathers. Here is one of mine around 14 weeks for comparison. Also are you sure there only 6 weeks old? They look a lot older.

That's what I was afraid of....
The picture that I saw in the beginning shows both male and female with red combs......

Females will get red combs and waddles when they are getting ready to lay so 16-24 weeks old. If yours are truly 6 weeks that’s far too early. Plus like I said the boys have barring and the girls do not so that automatically makes any of the ones with barring a boy.
