I strongly suspect that he knew they were cockerels when he sold them to you, but it's better to play nice with someone like that. What matters is getting your money back and relieving yourself of two cockerels you probably don't need.

Yeah, unfortunately for me this was my first time buying in person and not a chick. I assumed he was going to give me what I asked him for. He probably figured I wouldn't figure it out for awhile. Live and learn I guess, but I better get my money back lol

Right? They're gorgeous (or will be when their feathers grow back) but I didn't ask for roosters. He tried to pull that they're straight run, which he didn't say while I was there. But at $40 a bird at 5 months old... He should be able to tell. Once I got them home I sure could and I'm new to backyard chicken keeping

This happens to people so often it’s not even funny. Still this would be the first time I’ve ever seen rooster feathers pulled to pass as hens. That is so shady. I’m assuming you live in a rural area if you able to keep chickens. I put some mix roosters on Craigslist I got more calls and texts than I could ever respond too. Maybe it’s just my area. The amount of mental gymnastics I have to do to try to understand why someone would do that is exhausting. Maybe times are hard.

It's funny because I actually found them on Craigslist and they were advertising FREE roosters! I wish they had an actual website so I could leave a review. I drive over an hour to get them and I'll have to drive back on Monday, I was pretty angry (still am). But this is a definite learning experience for me. I will check and double check before I pay anyone a cent.

Yup there are some "shady" ones out there. This person "owed" me for 4BO hens I gave her, she knows I always wanted a Lavender, she said she had 2LO. I knew better when I saw them & told her it was a PAIR. She insisted they're pullets. I've dealt with her and thought she was a friend, this is what I got ... They've been rehomed and I'm not dealing with her again, it wasn't the first but it is the last

@ChickNanny13 with dark legs like those, I don't believe they are pure Orpingtons either. People who lie and cheat will always get their comeuppance; repeat custom comes from good business practices, honesty and fair pricing.
