I gotta say, the UFO coop is definitely my favorite. I guess it would be a pain to clean, but that's not my problem! But I think it would be worth the tough cleaning.

If I had any of these coops than I would have a good excuse to bring people to the chicken yard and show off my coop(s) and chickens!

This article is great! I give it 6 stars (as in over the limit)! I could spend hours looking over this and still be interested! I have always been interested in the Wife Tales, and this was like an answer to my dreams! I think I this is probably my favorite BYC article ever (including my own)! I agree, farm eggs are WAY better than store eggs.

I absolutely agree with the fact that chickens don't need heat lamps (except as chicks). I also agree with what was said about securing a heat lamp if you do use it. Once when we weren't at home our heat lamp fell into the chicks' brooder and almost caught fire. My mom panicked because the house was almost caught on fire, but I was more worried about the chicks (like always).

This article is great, but there are a a couple things I don't agree with; bantams aren't the greatest layers, and bantams are not very heat tolerant. Those are partly true, some bantams lay good, other not so good, some do bad in heat, others don't, it all depends on the breed, and it is the same for standard sized chickens.

My chickens love the seed block thingies, but we don't like to get them because they contain soy. I will make sure to use the recipe, thanks!
I agree, if the electricity goes out the chickens with heat lamps will freeze, and they are a fire hazard. Thanks for adding that to a article so others can prevent their chickens from freezing and becoming roast chicken.
