I may be hosting Thanks Giving this year. It has been quite a while since I did that.

I do not have a menu yet but we always have

Turkey
stuffing
mashed potatoe
Yams
Thanks giving rolls
yellow jello

I might have posted these recipes so check the first post in the thread to see. If you do not see recipes for the rolls and the jello, let me know

Yellow Jell-O

1 Big Lemon Jell-O(6oz). Can use other Jell-O but it will not be the same.
1½C Milk scalded milk
8 oz cream cheese
1 C Cream
½ C cold water
2 eggs yolks

Add all ingredients in order in a blender. Whir after each addition. Pour into large serving bowl. Chill for a couple of hours or over night.

Note: Mom had a small blender. She needed to make this twice for the amount needed to fill the bowl. If you have a big blender, double the recipe.

Growing up Thanksgiving was always special to me. My morning would start of with sneaking off with my dad to go check cotton and then we would have breakfast. There was 4 of us so I was lucky! Then we would go to my grams and she would cook BIG turkeys (big family) mashed potatoes, gravy, buttered peas, stuffing, home made cranberry sauce,yams with the marshmallows on top, pretzel jello salad and those rainbow rolls that you would heat up and butter the tops...geeze you can't hardly find those anymore! But....my dad and I would always cook a few ducks, the wild ones. Soooo good! Then my goodness desserts were always pumpkin pie, apple pie, pecan pie and cheesecake. Always a wonderful time with a wonderful family!

For the past year I've been learning how to bake yeast breads here at home. It's been challenging and rewarding (when it all comes together right, lol).

Today for the 1st time I made up a Boule recipe and ran into a snag. Is there anyone here that's familiar with yeast breads? Since I'm here several times a day reading about chickens, it would be great to chat with others that also bake.

Did you grow cotton in California? I have seen some fields of it here. It is cool to see it!
