I do best just wingin it without patterns but if you need help the best thing is a knitting book for kids at walmart. It makes it really easy with simple instructions with detailed pics.

I was able to knit a scarf with those giant wooden knit sticks in my pictures above..other than that..I am dangerous with two needles!!!! Crochet for me!!!!

GAUGE:
20 sc = 4 inches BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you less stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Dec 1: Pull up loop in each of next two sc; yo, pull through all 3 loops on hook.

Ribbing for Brim: Ch 11.
Row 1: Sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across-10 sc. Ch 1, turn.
Row 2: Sc in back loop only of first sc and each sc across. Ch 1, turn. Rep Row 2 until piece meas approx 9½", slightly stretched. Turn work sideways.
Crown: Row 1: Work 45 sc evenly spaced along side of ribbing. Ch 1, turn.
Row 2: Sc in both loops of each sc across. Ch 1, turn. Rep Row 2 until piece meas 2" from ribbing.
First Dec Row: Sc in first 2 sc, * dec 1, sc in next 3 sc; rep from * across, ending last rep with only 1 sc-36 sc. Ch 1, turn.
Second Dec Row: * Sc in next 2 sc, dec 1; rep from * across-27 sc.
Work next two rows even.

Are you knitting Annie? Or using a loom? I looked at those looms at Walmart and couldn't get real excited about them, loL!!! Crochet hooks for me!!!!

I'm halfway done crocheting a blanket for donation. It'll be a chemo blanket I guess, since pattern is too big for a premie. It's the 1/2 seashell apttern and I actually interpreted a set of directions to make it LOL.
I'm rather pleased with it and will take pics and post them tomorrow if the wold and life give me time to do so

Sounds pretty Lori!! I have about 5 rows on mine...not shells, hdc. I keep switching back and forth between projects, lol!! Cool new avatar!!!

If I can't find the same lot I'll get a contrasting color to finish it. But I'm very proud about learning a new pattern
