I hate seeing him out in this heat

This is where I would like him to be

I think cats like the heat. Mine always make sure to be in the hottest place possible - including boiling their brains out by sleeping with their heads under the radiators in winter.
My all black kitty cat lies in the sun until his fur is too hot for me to touch!
I think your little one will be just fine.

Yep it’s the human dilemma, they like you when you do things, then get miffed when you don’t!

Try this approach: ‘your sink is clogged, that is not good, i can’t get right over there at the moment, but try this, it should work for you to unclog the sink. I really apologize I can’t fix your sink right now’

If they get all miffed then they are not worth knowing. Do these people reciprocate and help you with things??

As for flying someone to Sacramento- wow hope they pay for the fuel! I would pay for your fuel…. If they don’t that’s just not nice.
Many years ago the grandfather (or maybe uncle) of a friend of mine had a similar issue to @featherhead007 has.
He came up with quite a creative solution. He printed little fliers advertising himself as available for odd jobs and errands and he included an hourly rate. I forget the details I think he may have said payment could be in kind or via a donation to a charity or something.
Anyway, it was interesting. About half the neighborhood took the hint and stopped bugging him to help, and the other half had really wanted to pay him all along but didn't know how to do so because he never asked.
Just a thought for you Alex!

Good job on the alerts guys!
You have some good grass. Mine is all but dead from no rain and scorching temps.
We are not far apart but it is amazing the weather difference. We are really blessed here. It rained here again last night. It was quite unexpected as big cat and I were sitting under the magnolia tree reading in the dark when it started. Miss Éowyn thought the magnolia tree would protect her and would not come in with me. It was a bad decision. Soaked kitty at the backdoor a few hours later.
