That is a fascinating g study . I haven't read the book but they did a documentary on it & I saw that.
It is fascinating. I am only about 40 pages in and the snoozing is nothing to do with the book! It is my Chicken Palace book so I read it when I am sitting outside looking at the trees.
Any idea where I would find the documentary? I would like to watch that.

I decided to do the hardest thing (for me) that I could do which was to just observe and leave the tiny floof alone, keeping stress to a minimum.

I planned on flushing with distilled water if it caked up again and if it had started looking worse I would have gotten Terramycin for sure.

Thankfully the chicks eye is almost completely opened back up now. No crustys at all and she/he was even shoving another chick out of the way to get to feeder!
That's awesome 😁

So glad your little one is all healed up.

Why, In the hottest time of the day, my little Dakota just layed out in the sun. Wings outstretched and head barely lifted up off the concrete patio? She looked like she had died. I went to check and she popped up like a cork and ran under the porch (where all the other chickens are) :idunno Scared me to death. Gezz.:he

Rarely do Roosters & Hens fight. A hen might stand up for herself so he doesn't mate, but rarely is there real fighting between the two. Much more common is Roo to Roo or Hen to Hen. I think you will be just fine in that department!
Rose have a half hearted attempt at a face off with him they hopped / spared half heartedly and Rose backed down, he went back eating no fuss no drama so all seems good.

We shall see what happens at bed time ha!
