Yes, SEVEN! They were wild chickens, so it was very interesting to see how things would play out with so many cockerels in my backyard. Somehow it never got out of hand & the older chickens would keep them in line.
Wow! Glad they all behaved! I had two here this spring and it became a fighting match every day….

Hi everyone, I'm back and caught up. A lot has happened this week. First I want to thank each of you for your prayers and warm thoughts. I really would like to forget this past week has ever happened but I can not. I managed to get through my daddy's funeral barely. I really did loose it at the end when we put his hat on him before the casket was closed like he wanted and it hit me like a ton of bricks that he was gone. I never saw him without his hat on, putting it on him made it all to real. My grandmother is back with us. She called Tuesday and said we needed to come get her she was sick and needed to stay a few days. I do not know what is wrong with her but she is having random dizzy and nausea spells. We made her a dr appointment but cannot get in until next Monday. Loosing Ezzie, Cricket and Granny has also been tough. I finally got in contact with the dogs owner this afternoon. They are in Tennessee until Monday. He apologized, and apparently lives in Tennessee, but works here through the week. He has been on vacation this week and thought he had someone coming to feed and water her and make sure she was ok. He asked if I could feed and water her until Monday and he will take her to his place in Tennessee. I have her locked up in a stall down at the barn now and will make sure she is ok and fed and watered. Once I put her up I was able to finally let my flock out of lockdown. They had all been locked in the coop for almost 5 days and were going crazy and starting to fight. If anything good came out of their lockdown I can say Raven and Corona are finally officially broken up over being broody. Once they were let out this afternoon all Branch wanted to do was be held. I bear hugged that little rooster and yes broke down and had a good cry while doing so. Afterwards while watching the group have a massive dust bath session in the new load of sawdust I felt better for the first time in a few days. Rosie also started high school Thursday among the madness. I was proud of her before her first day, but yesterday they actually got out of homeroom and switched classes and she brought home her syllabus's. Her Geometry class, is Honors Geometry. What was listed as Physical Science on her schedule is Physics. Both of those typically are only offered to juniors at her school. She is really excited about her science teacher. He informed them that not only did he have a masters in biology, but a bachelor's in chemistry as well as forensics. Seeing as how she wants to be a forensic toxicologist she cannot wait to have time this year to pick his brain and get advice on what classes to focus on to make her dream come true.

We did two more this evening. So more baby pics. The one that appears to be sportin’ a hat is Autumn could be an Azure Egger or Sage Egger and Solstice no clear idea here maybe German Bielefelder. I suspect both are girls.

Awwwww babies are so cute!!!!! Wish I could let my gals have some eggs but not practical…. I need to win that lottery tonight! Then I can let them nest to their heart’s content ❤️

Got home from work and took the pups out. About half the chooks are outside. Impossible to watch all the pups at once. Taking a break under the big live oak and Navi comes walking up with a big brown egg. Probably from the naked neck hen, it's huge. I don't know how she got it in her mouth but she delivers it to me. After I promise a treat she puts the egg in my hand. Smart girl. 😊she's also one of Anna's favorite dogs ❤

Sounds like Rosie is going to have an awesome year! Glad dog is getting moved and careful supervision in the meantime. Glad you had a good cry (and were able to say goodbye). Branch is a wonderful therapy bird. Yay for the broodies done, and for some good bathing. Is that Evil Bat, Mama sitting on the nest under the house? Praying Grandma's appointment brings answers. :hugs
