The forecast was very much a let down, there was no storm! Or rather there was, but it didn't hit us. I love it when they get it wrong that way, not like last week when we had a small rain forecast and ended up with a 20 h power shortage. We still have a chance though, storms are announced for today and tomorrow.

I'm very happy to hear this! I wonder if beginning to lay made her unwell with her anemia, as laying takes a lot of energy and ressources ? Is anemia in chicken the same as in human (deficiency of hemoglobin due to lack of iron / B12) or is it specific ?

YES! Just do it Kelly! Otherwise we will all think it's some kind of silly stubborn newfoundland superstition - " thou shall not let anyone climb on your ladder" 🤣!

Hibou doing what a cat does best on caturday, sleeping exactly where she shouldn't.

I love that picture of Hibou. So comfy!
I don’t know about the anemia. I doubt it is iron deficiency - that would have to be extreme to cause anemia. The first thing you think of is blood loss eg from parasites. But cecal worms are pretty harmless and the vet didn’t see any evidence of mites, lice etc.
The second thing you think of is something destroying red blood cells. That could certainly be from something she ate. Or it could be she has some weird underlying disease.

Look at Lulu cozying up to Maggie. Only Diana is usually allowed that close to Maggie!
I think Maggie looks at her like a little pet.

Maybe Maggie is 'taking her under her wing' so to speak? Sometimes I've seen unique bonds between hens I never thought I would see!

Have that, did a spray Thursday night and hit the wrong spot in my throat, and kicked of the gag reflex, and more vomiting… ugh! Next time I will spray some in a cup and take it that way.

Also have a prescription gargle, Benzydamine Hydrochloride which I have been using. And I think it was RC who suggested aspirin dissolved in water gargle which I also did.

The nicest thing ? Cold jello, slowly swallow and it adheres to the back of your throat and slowly slides offering a lovely cool soothing effect 💕 til you have to finish swallowing ha!

My biggest upset right now are my barn cams being down. I really really miss seeing my fur and feathered babies😢 my mum bless her has done chores for me yesterday and the day before. I went out yesterday afternoon but I got so nauseous and dizzy, I stepped on poor Penelope’s foot, I was really afraid I would hurt one of them. I they crowd around your feet begging for treats, wanting attention….. Mum yelled at me 😳 told me she was quite capable of feeding chickens 😳

And don’t get started with the horses! When we let them in Truly ran in and just about knocked me over. More being yelled at….

I hope today I can haule the transmitter and receiver down and get them paired up. All assuming I can stand upright! Maybe do that when mum isn’t looking!

Meanwhile I have been enjoying everyone’s photos and stories, thanks all for sharing. Esp the baby pics ❤️

That could be and would be very nice.
I was more thinking though along the lines of ‘my chicken keeps a chicken’.
I just hope Maggie doesn’t consider Lulu to be livestock. Or worse, a meat chicken!

:fl Well, lets hope it was that weird pink feed and she recovers and you don't have to worry. Bad enough you have dealt with an extremely rare infection...we don't want some other mysterious illness/disease cropping up on you!!!:fl
