All 5 of the Rural king chicks from this year are laying now. The eggs from the first girl to lay is slowly starting to get a bit bigger each day. I'm hoping that Lilly and Karen also start laying by the end of October. If so that will give me 7 layers throughout the winter months. If Lilly and Karen make me wait until spring I will be happy with 5. That will allow me to have eggs for myself for the holiday baking season and still be able to supply my priority egg customer throughout the winter. Here is today's egg haul from them, still do not 100% sure know what the 2 red girls are, but they do not lay blue eggs lol.

I have to admit, whatever they are they are striking birds.

They almost look like a Colombian wyandotte crossed with a Rhode island or new Hampshire red. Very pretty!

Edit:
Playing with the genetics calculator again, a RIR roo x Colombian wyandotte hen could generate those colors. Other way around pops white with red shoulders or light yellow birds.

My picture post was maybe an awful choice, but I also thought that the severity (awfulness) of it would get my point across that it WAS chicken related, and, though an awful topic, is also awfully necessary. Thank you @RoyalChick for seeing my point, not the picture as some plain old disgusting photo. I do feel very bad for that hen, she looked to be in awful distress. :(

Tax for an awful lot of awfuls:

Are you playing games with me? Just get me my treats, servant!View attachment 3238924
Oh my! That is a chicken who is born to command her human servant - look at the imperious stance!

I wish we knew what they are - they are very striking looking birds. Really beautiful.

I think they might be production reds or a cross of a 'RED (RI or NH) with a Buckeye. Yours have the Buckeye comb, but too light a coloring for a Buckeye; too dark of a coloring & wrong comb for the crosses (ISA brown, cinnamon queen, etc - these are usually a RI Red or NH red Roo crossed with either a RI W or a White leghorn hen to get the sex linking).: About the right coloring for a RIR, but wrong comb.

Production Red: (cross between RIR & NHR)

Do you know where Rural King gets their chicks from? That might help narrow it down some. For example, TSC gets theirs from Hoover Hatchery. So, I could go onto Hoover's site and look at their chicks to compare for ones bought at TSC.

Color wise, I agree, but it still doesn't generate the correct comb :th
You have mentioned it before, but back then I was a newbie to the site and didn't know how to bookmark: what is the site you use for genetics calculations?

It was like pulling teeth to get the answer, but my Rural King uses Hoovers. I swear asked them a simple "what hatchery do you use" and I got the 3rd degree. Why did I want to know? We cannot help if employee's mix up the chicks. Geez lady, I like my girls, but I want to know if possible what they truly are, I'm not mad at you.

Not at all offensive.
I was using awful in a maybe sloppy, but I think still correct way to emphasize how extreme it is.
I think we could both agree with the following (which weirdly sounds very British to me):
It was awfully useful of @bgmathteach to post a picture of such an awfully sick chicken.
Phew! That took some work to construct!
:lau

And before the tax authorities seek me out here is tax payment - a chicken that looks like she is close to starting laying (which would be awfully exciting!).

I love the pattern on this girl.
I don't know why but just want to hug her 🤗
