Awww. Me too. But she is skittish around me. She probably remembers all those times I had to wrap her up and do stuff to get her leg working.I love the pattern on this girl.
I don't know why but just want to hug her![]()
Inquiring minds want to know: did she get it?Freakishly lucky (if a little blurry) photo of Bernie leaping for a moth.

Yup. The moth is no more.Inquiring minds want to know: did she get it?
I love watching mine leap for flying insects! I have to say, though, it almost looks like Bernie is levitating - usually mine use their wings, too - or look gangly or awkward while doing so!
@RebeccaBoyd & @rural mouse ; Looking at Hoover's site, it must be the Cinnamon Queen. Their version is a RIR roo x SLW hen. They show a cinnamon queen hen with a single comb, but some must get the comb from the SLW (though your hens look more like a strawberry comb than a rose comb) However, this seems to be the only logical breed given Hoover's advertised breeds. They almost look like a Colombian wyandotte crossed with a Rhode island or new Hampshire red. Very pretty!
Edit:
Playing with the genetics calculator again, a RIR roo x Colombian wyandotte hen could generate those colors. Other way around pops white with red shoulders or light yellow birds.
Awesome!Freakishly lucky (if a little blurry) photo of Bernie leaping for a moth.

Well, they were sold as Cinnamon Queens. They just ended up looking so different to any other pictures of Cinnamon's that I had been able to find. Due to the recent dog attacks and subsequent lockdown for a few days I've had to really work hard on rebuilding their trust. It did not phase the attention seeking orps. The Queens were always just a little bit more standoffish and now are even more flighty. It is ok, we will get back to where we used to be in time.@RebeccaBoyd & @rural mouse ; Looking at Hoover's site, it must be the Cinnamon Queen. Their version is a RIR roo x SLW hen.
