I love my sister. She claims she got some weird looks when she requested a chicken on the cake. I could not have picked out a better one myself.

So cute!

Hello My Old Friend

Today is the first day since she started molting that Hattie came up on the deck. I think she is feeling better. And look! Some tail feathers are growing!

No Worms
Just to give everyone an idea of how dry things were here. It has rained here for 3 straight days. I have not seen a single worm above ground. I have no idea where they are but after 3 days of rain there are usually worms all over the cement and in the pool. There is not one to be seen anywhere.
Yes I noticed that too, we had Ra n the other day but no worms in the water troughs afterwards! Means no treats for the chickies. I am also guessing too dry.

It seems remarkable you've got such a great rooster right off the bat. What a sweetie. I don't remember whether he was part of a flock with one or more senior roosters around? I know he was getting beaten up somehow, and he was skinny, that's all. Did he have a chance to observe and learn proper rooster etiquette before he came to you?
I don't know anything of his socializing with other chickens other than he was bottom of the pecking order. And yes getting beat up but the other Roo.

I would say it's a combo of his seems mg what the hens will allow and also that he is just mello. No drama with him.

We shall see next spring if that stays true!

I wasn’t coming to bother but when I went for the strep throat at the walk-in clinic they tested for Covid- and had that too. I wouldn’t have bothered as I figured I was sick anyways so I wasn’t going anywhere soon!

Then I got curious after I felt better and wanted to see if I was still active - but seems I tested negative after about 10 days - but I still have lingering headache coughing and short of breath. Today I had a coughing fit in the barn and scared to poor rooster hahaha - I thought he might attack me he was giving me the evil eye!!!

I sure hope you feel better soon💕
I cannot sneeze or cough in Mr Marans pen. It’s The only thing that causes him to lose his little rooster mind and attack me, well that and if he could get a shot in at the angle grinder of doom he might take it, but would more likely just herd his ladies far away and “guard” against the evil tool. 😂
