I hate to say this but it was really the unavailability of masks. They did not want the public buying up masks when there were not enough for hospitals and Healthcare workers. It was a calculation to buy time to increase stockpiles before creating a run on them in the public arena.

And chance of using a heavy construction type one, with the silicone type rubber and the screw in puck filters? Sure you’ll look a wee bit crazy, but that was the route I went when spraying paint and insulation removal (nasty fiberglass and mouse droppings

1. This is a ground-level deck, like right on the ground? No access at all? Otherwise, at dead of night, light it from above with a flashlight and squeeze a long rake under there and pull it off the underdecking, raking it toward you.

5. Grill -- I'd hose out the grill, then scrub using dishsoap, rinse with the hose, drain, and THEN put it on high to get the rest. I'd be worried that merely having it on high will not necessarily get all of the smell gone. But it might be sufficient.

Good luck with your wasps, and thanks for thinking of your guests. I’ve been on the “in-laws are allergic, wasps are my friends wagon for a while, but… DH is pretty reactive. I’m on day three post sting and still have a tennis ball sized hot red spot, though the swelling is going down and I’ve moved onto itchy… so it could be a serious safety concern. It’s my own fault for drinking so much pop and putting two tbsp of sugar in my coffee and for not realizing the little guy was on my arm before I sat down!
