I have called the cochins bowling balls with heads since the day they arrived. It does not help that she is broodyish and is constantly walking around making herself look bigger then she really is.This girl is built like an elephant![]()

Like Ponypoor I need to win the lottery as well. Everyone will know it when it happens. Suddenly there will be a couple of every variety of Marans out there right now in my front yard. Even those that will have to be smuggled out of Australia.
Anything fruity - or vinegary. What do you put in the jar?
I just copied ONE combined pic from the internet (ad for a farm that raises/sells them) and it split into the individual components when pasted. But, I'm glad I 'forgot' a few, as these pics are just the bomb.!A few you forgot lol.

Thank you! will try tomorrow.Anything fruity - or vinegary.
I just grab what I have on hand - bruised bit of peach, mushy grape, lemon after I have squeezed it. All these things are like magnets to them and they crowd into the jar but somehow cannot see the holes in the plastic wrap to get out.
Sometimes there are so many in there it sounds like a drum roll - that is when I know to pop it in the freezer for a few hours!
I worried about keeping feathered feet clean when I Initially got my first Marans. Surprisingly they and the cochins who have heavier foot feathering do not get snowballs or mud trapped in their foot feathers. The silkies are a different story, I have to keep a close eye on them in the winter time as they do get little snowballs stuck to their feet. I think it has to do with the different textures in normal feathers and silkie feathers.I just copied ONE combined pic from the internet (ad for a farm that raises/sells them) and it split into the individual components when pasted. But, I'm glad I 'forgot' a few, as these pics are just the bomb.!That said, I am not sure I want a bunch of feather-footed gals. My light Brahmas do pretty much keep their feet clean, but in the winter they do get snow/Ice clumps stuck to the feathers and sometimes need help cleaning them off, especially in slushy weather...and that is a bit worry-some for me.
