Merle isn't a striking or elegant beauty but I to my eyes she is very beautiful
I actually think she is very striking - a sleek beauty. She has lines not unlike a leghorn (just not a big comb like them)- I bet she is a VERY good flier....that you may have to watch, as she can probably 'get into trouble', However, her flight ability may well save her from predators, too,
If you're feeling adventurous you could even let her name one or two chicks.
Yes, This! I think it would tickle Grandma pink to be able to name a chick or two! How bad could it be? (especially since you could always use a knickname)
It's to your credit that she is so strong on her legs now.
I was amazed at the amount of time and physical therapy @RoyalChick put in. Someday Bernadette will realize that and become a friendly hen....hopefully sooner than later. RC deserves at least a table sit & chat from her!!
Caturday: Grochatila knows how to deal with rain.
I'm with Grochatila on that choice 100% for a cool, rainy day!

Don't but me. I'm hunting for breakfast dessert.

I had to trade phones yesterday and in doing so I found this picture of Pancho. A true bantam and ornery as the day is long. He was a beautiful bird but not people friendly at all. I still carry a scar on my left Achilles from him. Broke Lety's heart when he was killed by Toby, who was new at the time. I didn't like Pancho but I do appreciate his beauty and his protection of his gals.

Be careful, as she enters old age she may need a crop bra for that food boob!!! :gig

She is a lovely lady! I really like that bit of lacing on her back half of her body, and the bit of bejeweling of the feather tips at her nape/hackles (nape sound so much more delicate and feminine than 'hackles'):love:love
oh Chicken, I love ya 💕

Awwww poor wee gal. Is it possible to let the door open an extra half hour ? To let everyone get settled and then she can also get settled?

I have bed time drama here also, and I bet this is why Misty roosts in the shavings room.
Bedtime drama is SO real in my little flock of 5 GLW's. Biggie will jump up to roost, and as soon as the drama starts, she jumps down and heads right into the nesting box! For awhile I thought she may be unwell but she is soft molting and doesnt have the energy for all that roost drama! i dont blame her. i cant stand it. I watch everyone go to roost and quickly walk away. Rosie will jump up and walk the roost 8ft back and forth, chatting a ton, and daring any chicken to try and jump up there. 4 others stand underneath and wait for her to chill out. What a show!!
